i bought a smalll 1 oz kent marine zooplankton from elmers the guy there said to feed once a week but the directions say to feed every other day
i onlt have 2 leathers a couple of mushrooms and one other coral that i won and have know idea what it is and my tank is a 110 with 260 pc
the question is who should i listen to

I would go with once a week.

I am thinking that your fish are going to appreciate that more than the corals will.

ok thanks
i was shocked in the difference ths stuff made my leather was not growing at all and over night he allmost doubled in size it was 5 inches in Jims tank and a week later it didn't do to much but it is looking pretty good now

As a rule of thumb, take any directions for feeding and supplimenting from manufacturers and cut it in half or a quarter of the recommended dose.

They sell product to make money regardless of what it could do to your tank, and have another product if you screw up, so listen to your inner soul, a good LFS or fellow reefers who have been there before. I dose phyto, alk, calk, and do my water changes, all others are inconcequential unless you run a reactor, or test for every darn thing.

Do what you know, and if you see a problem stop. Anthony says in his book about iodine being extremely important and dosed it daily in his greenhouse facility. He says that as long as there isn't an algae bloom you should be ok, once you hit the part where there is a bloom you must cut back on iodine. This is just a reference for you to check when trying to determine what to do. If you don't have his book, I highly recommend it as a reliable resource and it has a plethora of information useful to all Reef keeping hobbyists. Anthony Calfo's is available at Elmers if I remember correctly if not try www.readingtrees.com

thanks,

Rick
