-If they are True PPE, they must be traceable to Blane Perun. These will need to be 2 polyps per frag.

-Clone/non-traceable versions of PPE need to be 4 polyps per frag.

;)

I was just wondering because of this.

AOG's are still fairly new with a few shipments in since it's been named, selling by at or slightly above standard colony sizes. Now it's taken me over 4 years to even see a 3 polyp clone of the PPE.

Speaking of rare zoas, check these out from xia! Blew my fragile little mind..

Think I would have to see those in person, I don't think the picture does them justice, they look a dark blue at best. No flourescent or anything.

-The AoGs do appear to be widespread now, but if you have the original (can be traced back to Mr. Ugly), I'll count them at a 5 polyp minimum per frag.

Here was the reply I got on AOGs JKreefer.

Aussie micros and acans. How would you place those? I'm considering fragging one to two polyp off the following.

Also this Aussie blasto.

How about an LE palanwanesis monti will it be classified as rare? The original owner of my frag can only trace it back to Rommel at ultimatefrags.com.

Hey Karl, I was just reading this again, and I am lost...it says 12 common frags gets a bonus ticket, and 15 common frags gets a bonus ticket?

Here are examples of how the bonus tickets will be distributed:

2 'rare' frags = 1 bonus ticket

12 common frags = 1 bonus ticket

15 common frags = 1 bonus ticket

24 common frags = 2 bonus tickets

15 common frags + 1 rare frag = 1 bonus ticket

12 common frags + 2 rare frags = 2 bonus tickets

4 rare frags = 2 bonus tickets

I am not sure that Karl is available, so I am guessing that since 24 common frags = 2 bonus tickets, then 12 commons should = 1 bonus. But I do not think this means 12 xenia or 12 gsp.

Hi Pam, Twisted,

The swap format is the one that we used for the February 2006 BAR swap.

The idea at that time was that every 2 rares gets the person a bonus ticket. Every 12 commons also gets the person a bonus ticket.

So if someone brought more than 12 commons, but less than 24, he/she would still get 1 bonus ticket.

We did ask for people who wanted to bring very common softies to have them grown out and encrusted. We wanted to avoid having a lot of frags that got chopped at the last minute.

Ok, that is what threw me off was the 15 common frags =1 bonus ticket, I was like, "But I get one for bringing 12, and 2 for bringing 24...why would I bring 15?

Any how just wanted to clear that up. Afraid none of my "rares" will makes it the colonies are just still too small, so going to wait another year.
But I should be able to make 12 frags, I will just steal some of my wifes! MUHAHAHAHA!

Thanks for clearing that up, Norm!

The format was borrowed from BAR, so no one would know it better. Definitely bring those commons!;)

Sharing just for the heck of it! :)

It's fun just to bring a variety of stuff, regardless of the number of bonus tickets you might get.

I was walking around with about 8 or so bonus tickets at the swap last year. I ended up giving a bunch of them away. That was more rewarding than trying to snag more stuff for myself :)

Yeah, I was thinking about the bonus tickets and saw them as only slightly helpful, I actually really like the idea, it does get people to bring more frags, while only giving them a slight advantage at the picks.
I honestly made 12 or 14 frags at this point, and I will probablly bring half and have my wife bring half unless I can find a few more spots that are already fragged and just hiding.
My nieghbor has like 20 common frags I think. So between three of us we did alright.

I don't mean to sound like I am all about bonus tickets and rares, I am really just curious, the spirt of the swap is with in me, I always bring everything I can without hurting whats in my tank. It makes me happy to see so many generous hobbyist, you can't say that for many hobbys out there.

Hi All,

I just wanted to pipe in and say that I am just getting started, and have only been a MARS member for just two months now. I wish that I had frags to offer, but hopefully will next year. I realize that there is a $15 buy-in for those of us who are just getting started, but wonder if there is some other way we can contribute. Kudos to all of you for bringing all the frags. At this point even common frags are of real interest to me.

See you all there,

Regards,

Michael

I am sure there will be many task for all. Pam is nice enough to hold the event. She should not have to lift a finger, unless it is to say, "Oh, I'll take that coral :)".

I know there will be clean up and tear down. You can always help by bringing some trash bags and get people to help fill the up. There is going to be a bar-b-que and we all know what that means.

We,, I have been lucky enough to have pretty good results trying to grow out some of my corals, so I am going to bring a big ole box of corals with me. One problem though, where do I get the little plastic containers for my frags at?

No way am I buying a hundred gladware disposable containers at $3.50 for a four pack.

Any ideas?

These are the Zoanthids I can bring.

Frags of 5 polyps each from this colony
