1/2 inch insulation under tank

is this necasary and if so does the insulation go from edge to edge or does it go inside the bottom lip

I think it is mainly for acrylic tanks or glass tanks with no braces
and all I have seen in pics it was covering "all " the bottom...including edges

No foam under tanks with edge.

no foam if it has the cheap ugly black trim??....it is only about 1/16th....wouldnt that cause stress if things arent flush..??

yes, there is stress if the tank trim isn't flush with the stand. you need to make sure the top of your stand is even and level so the tank sits flush.

If you search this website, you will find this topic covered many times.

Foam between the tank and stand is only for acrylic tanks so to eliminate possible "points" which can cause a crack in the acrylic.

For glass tanks with a rim, no foam is needed, just ensure your stand is flat and level.

thanks alot i just built a stand for my 125 so i could put a 55 under as a refugium so i know stand is good
