1 eel or 2

I am adding a blue ribbon eel that my LFS has been housing for me for the past month and is doing great.
I just found out that another LFS has a black/yellow ribbon eel. I have often seen multiple eels together so in adding the blue in my 280g tank what are the pros and cons of adding a 2nd

I am definitely adding the blue and know the challenges with feeding (the blue I know is doing great), and my tank has been made as escape proof as I can make it, so my question has nothing to do with adding 1 but simply with adding a second on about the same time that I add the 1st ribbon eel.

Thanks and Happy Father's Day!

Do you have pieces of PVC in the tank so the eel can be completely covered except the head, or a lot of rock work to server this same purpose? If so you could try the 2nd eel, if not I would wait and see how the blue sets in first before going from none to two.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there

I just added some more rock (tonga) but may also add a pvc elbow as well.

If the thought of adding 2, is it better to add together or does it not really matter with the ribbon eels?

Not really sure about the ribbons but I would imagine it is much like if you were to add two other kind of eels... Doesn't really matter if you do two at once. The blue might help entice the black to eat too

Thanks dmorty
Never had an eel so my uncertainty is whether it would be better adding two, and sort of having strength in numbers and one being more comfortable having another in the tank, or is it more likely that that would just create added stress for each of them. The ones that I have seen do seem to hang out together. Are they typically more schooling (especially when added around the same time), or better off adding singularly?
Thanks again.

You see eels together because they will all hang out where ever it is they feel secure and more times than not that is in the same spot in a tank (mostly because there is only one area they feel secure) search for threads on here where people have posted about ribbons and you can checkout what others use for theirs to get a better idea
