1 inch bulkhead

1200 is wrong...600 I'd say max. I'd be safer and just go with the 1.5" A 1" will do 600 with no 90's or ball valves or the like. But if you're pushing 600 through it with all that crap, it's got a good chance of backing up or making a horrible gushing noise from turblent flow. I know this the hard way.

a 1 inch bulkhead can handle about 590gph

here it is, straight from the RC home page, "drain size calculator"

Calculators->Drain Size Calculator

Using the following input parameters
Gallons per Hour = 600

Drain and Overflow sizes are calculated as
Recommended minimum drain pipe diameter = 1.01 inches
Recommended minimum linear overflow size = 9 inches

Why doesn't anyone use the calculator! On the main page there is a bunch of calculators (scroll down on the bottom left) for different things. Heres the link for the water drain/flow amount.

sort of like what i did for my post lol - :D :D

i dont have an overflow.. It is just a drilled hole with strainer. So i was wondering what the flow would be through that since there is NO overflow just the tank in general. But apparently it is the same! lol Thanks everyone.. I may try to go with 1.5 if i can find someone who has the drill bit.
