The tank is mostly complete but there is always stuff to do. I imagine I'll be working diligently on this for the next 6 months for it to be done- done.

I have an electrical problem right now. It appears 4 circuits aren't enough.

In habitants-wise, I had to move everything over prematurely and lost some stuff, I knew this would happen but my wife and I wanted the 450 out of the living room and I was freaking out managing two large tanks.

The tank has since stabilized and I'm getting coraline growing on the DIY rock.

In the next few months I'll begin stocking additional inhabitants.

I just wrote a long response to this thread and when I submitted it I received an RC error message. Very frustrating.

In brief, first a huge congrats on a outstanding project. I do have a bunch of questions but of most immediate interest, I was wondering how you were faring with your diy rock. Your rock and rockwork looks terrific BTW. At the zoo we made about 130 lbs of DIY rock and had a number of problems that we tentatively isolated as being derived from the rock. Primarily issues with chemistry stability particularly regarding ph, alk and Ca. We pulled over 50% and its doing better such that we can now start to raise sps. I was wondering what formula you followed and if you experienced any problems. You mentioned in the sited thread that you weere getting good corraline growth on your rock. We never really did with our diy. Anyway, I tip my hat to you. Way to go. And I thoughty your 400 gallon breadbox tank was awesome. Where did that ever wind up anyway?

thats sweet nice job..... is the skimmer your selling still available? i think i might almost talk my step dad into buying it just so i can come look at your tank!! lol

Drbronx,

I do have one problem with the DIY rock, it is growing some sort of bacteria. I imagine that has to do with leaching of something. I soaked this rock for a VERY long time. But even still who knows, there could even be salt still in some pieces they are very large.

No chemistry problems, I made sure it was "kured" first.

No recipe, I'm a fly by the seat of my pants guy and each batch was different depending on my mood.

The lunch box is in the back barn. I'm holding it for Scott Os. But his plans have changed somewhat so I might sell it depending on the situation.

pimp,

The skimmer is still here, people are saving up for it. If he wants it let me know.

~Meet~

I think the meet will be somewhere around labor day -ish. I'll let you know when it's nailed down.
