1 month and still bleached.

The BTA that I got from a guy is still bleached after about a month of having it. It's still sticky and still eats. I notice it completely recedes at lights out though, but I assume this is normal behavior (how would clowns hosting it react to this?).

I only feed it about once a week. Often a squirt of several large mysis or a small chunk of krill.

Up the feedings you guys think?

I had also purchased 2 bleached anemone about 2 years ago, I was feeding them everyday after work for 3 weeks, then broke it down to every other day for 2 more weeks, then every 3rd day for another 2 weeks yet after that till i got to once a week.. they both regained coloration and very very well, one of them has since passed away :( but the other one is still going and its now gigantic, and has gone from a 3" oral disk to about a foot in diameter, I dont think hosting clowns would do much good right now except possibly stress out the anemone at this point. For food i was feeding a combination of several things, Table shrimp defrosted and soaked in selcon, mysis and krill. You can also try Silversides if you have them avail to you

Good Luck

Guess I'll up the feeding.

I have clowns in the tank, but they seem content living in their torch that they've been in for a year +.

I just was curious how clowns host anemones that close up every night.

what kind of clowns? also when my anemone closes up a bit at night you cant see my clowns they curl up in side of the oral disk as it folds up

the BTA is not a natural host anemone for the oscellaris, its possible they might take to it, or they may never its very hard to say, maybe in time when the anemone is feeling better depending on the size of the torch, if you remove the torch for a bit and QT it they might find the BTA more appealing

Yea, I'm not too concerned with them hosting it or not. Was a freebie so I jumped at the chance. I'll probably get a rose BTA too if I can find a nice looking one for the right price.

At some point I'll remove the torches as they're very aggressive and take up too much realestate. But where the clowns go next is up to them :)

I have a bleeding heart for bleached anemones, if i see one at our local shop that does have warranty, if i have the space, i get them and nurse them back, Ive been keeping my eye out for a new one but im tossing about the idea of a carpet for my B&W's

Yea, I like my fish too much to get something that could potentially eat them. I'd love to get a magnifica one of these years. But it will have to wait for a dedicated species tank.
