Hi!!

i have an 80 gallon aquarium, which i had a pair of clarki's. the female is 1.5" and the male just under 1". I recently added a pair of black percs (the aquarium store said they would be fine)
The following day, the female of the new paiur had been nipped at and died. The male is still going strong and has several hiding spots from the dominant female clarki. Every now and then she will chase him back in to his hiding space.
What are my chances of all three getting along. will she eventually stop chasing the new male? he has been in for 4 days now.

BAD MOVE. never ever ever add different species of clowns together. AND NEVER EVER listen to the aquarium store advice. They are complete rip-offs. 3 will not work well either, so I would suggest you to immediately take the new one out and bring it back to the store for a store credit. I highly recommend that you do some research first before jumping into conclusions, but yet again so many of us make mistakes along the way :) Good luck

Tim

thanks for the reply Tim, she does seem to be leaving him alone at the moment, in fact he seems to like annoying her. i had always thought that i would not be doing right having two pairs but the aquarium store to date have always given good info, i have never lost a fish until 4 days ago. thanks for the advice. is there definately no way that the new clown will be accepted?

I moved my true percs in with my occs and the fighting started shortly afterwards. They were in a 240 at each end of the 8' tank.Might a have been because both pair are spawning regularly.

Some have tried, most have failed, I even tried once but the conclusion was horrible! The fight was so brutal, deaths were seen. >< So like I said before, I don't think it's a wise choice at all. Sorry. :(

as i said, i lost the female but the male has found a hiding place and seems to be doing ok, the male thats been in for ages pretty much leaves him alone and the female chases him every now and then back into his hiding place but he has by no means become shy or showing any signs of stress.
