1 thiellei! 2 thiellei! 3 thiellei! 4!

I started reefing in 1997. I bought Drs. Fautin and Allen's field guide and fell in love with the skunk hybrids. I assumed thiellei and leucokranos would be impossible to obtain. I have since owned 4 thielleis and 7 leucokranos (3 captive raised.) Then we were told both were believed to be hybrids and many assumed that "hybrid" meant they would not be able to reproduce. We were wrong about leucokranos.

In the last 16 years I have been wrong a number of times in this hobby. In some cases, it has been a great pleasure.

Walter,

Are you of the consideration that A. thielleis are a hybrid?

Thanks,
Bob

yes. Through behavioral observation, physical appearance as well as wild associations,I have postulated that this is a cross between ocellaris and sandaracinos.

Walter,
Have there been documentation of OcellarisXOrange skunk pair that produce fish that look like Thiellei? This should not be hard to do in captivity. Have you attempted it?

I'm not a seasoned breeder. I thought about it at one point but I had 12 tanks going at the time and it was just too much. I know some others have given it a go with no success thus far.
