YOU have been ignored!
Well the subject line says it all. Today (I think) is my reefs 1st birthday. It seems like its been longer but it was in the middle of August last year I set this one up after I moved to Tampa. My rock was totally bare of ANY life and a brand new tank I had built from Premium Aquatics. Its 3/4" acrylic. Standard 90 footprint. If I had one thing to do over I would have gave myself more front to back.
Here's a pic when I first put the rocks in:
And a pic of some of the first corals about a month later:
Its came a long way in a year I think:
Full Tank shot:
A few coral shots:
I like these softies so I kept them. First is pulsing Sinularia (yes it pulses under low flow) and the Tyree green polyp sarco and Palau Sinularia
Everything has been pretty smooth I'd say. Nothing major going on. I've got a Geo Ca reactor, top off with Kalk if the ph < 8.2 controlled by the neptune. I travel for work m-f so its REALLY nice having the ACIII. I can keep an eye on things when I'm away. I've got auto-feeders for the fish as well. EVERYTHING is automated to the hilt.
My acro's have been doing fairly well. Of course I wish they would be growing quicker. I just got a Merk test kit and my phosphates test 0 and Nitrates < 5 Ca ~380 Alk 3.5meq/L give or take (it drifts, you know how it is) Salinity 1.026
My Larry Jackson has more than doubled in size and showed the most dramatic change in coloration. I'd say basically everything in my tank with an exception of a few were grown from 1" frags. And most corals have close to doubled in size.
So happy birthday reef!
Chris
