YOU have been ignored!
Well the subject line says it all. Today (I think) is my reefs 1st birthday. It seems like its been longer but it was in the middle of August last year I set this one up after I moved to Tampa. My rock was totally bare of ANY life and a brand new tank I had built from Premium Aquatics. Its 3/4" acrylic. Standard 90 footprint. If I had one thing to do over I would have gave myself more front to back.

Here's a pic when I first put the rocks in:

And a pic of some of the first corals about a month later:

Its came a long way in a year I think:

I like these softies so I kept them. First is pulsing Sinularia (yes it pulses under low flow) and the Tyree green polyp sarco and Palau Sinularia

Everything has been pretty smooth I'd say. Nothing major going on. I've got a Geo Ca reactor, top off with Kalk if the ph < 8.2 controlled by the neptune. I travel for work m-f so its REALLY nice having the ACIII. I can keep an eye on things when I'm away. I've got auto-feeders for the fish as well. EVERYTHING is automated to the hilt.

My acro's have been doing fairly well. Of course I wish they would be growing quicker. I just got a Merk test kit and my phosphates test 0 and Nitrates < 5 Ca ~380 Alk 3.5meq/L give or take (it drifts, you know how it is) Salinity 1.026

My Larry Jackson has more than doubled in size and showed the most dramatic change in coloration. I'd say basically everything in my tank with an exception of a few were grown from 1" frags. And most corals have close to doubled in size.

So happy birthday reef!

Chris

Very nice. I like the zoos growing on the tubular rock. :)

Do you have any problems with coraline on the acrylic panes?

Hey thanks! I appreciate it. I've still lot a LONG way to go. Maybe in another two years I'll have colonies! Imagine that :)

As far as the coraline goes, its not bad. I have to scrape the acrylic with an old credit card about once a week. The coraline has really started to take off.

Hey Chris let me know when your ready to frag that ORA Miami Orchid again. Mine croaked on me. No biggie. All others are doing very well.

Yeah I like the zoo's on the Tonga branch too. I've got pinks on one side and the Eagle Eyes on the other.

Thanks again,
Chris

Id say thats pretty nice in a years time!!!

Well I think with the tanks I've seen on here I'm in a VERY long line waiting my turn. ;) But yes I guess I'm happy with the progress I've made in a year. Hopefully in another year or two it will really look like something.

I Need To Find A Wealthy Sugar Mama To Buy Me The Aquarium Of My Dream's!

If you ever find the "Wealthy Sugar Mama" see if she has a sister!!

Thanks guys (and ladies) the reef has a long ways to go. Hopefully in another year or so I will have a fuller reef and something to really show. Actually right now i think I have way too many corals in there and I'm already looking at prospects for removal. Just looks like a lot of corals are thrown in there.

I think the tanks came quite a ways in a year though. I really like taking pictures of the reef so I can really tell the differences over time. When I was compairing what the tank looked like 6 mos ago I can't believe how much coraline has grown all over the place that I really don't notice when I see the tank all the time.

Thanks again!
Chris
