I don't think I have ever posted any pics or vids on this forum. I just placed an updated vid on youtube, so I thought I would provide a link here. I know a lot of sps keepers are hotly debating the new lighting choices so maybe this will help. There are other vids on my channel going back many months so you can see the coral growth and changes I have made to my tank over time.

Paul,
great video and the tank looks amazing as always. It appears to be growing out nicely since the last time I saw it wth Ronnie. It almost looks like you need to frag a few :-)

See ya round.

anytime...

I havent seen Ronnie in a while *I think hes busy with a new job...it would be a good stress relief to check out the mini ocean you have.

Very cool tank. What motors or product are you using on the tunze pumps? How long have you had them like that?

Keep up the good work!

Amazing tank, would you mind posting your daily light program and percentages? You could probably help guide us reefers with no par meter.

I get asked this question a lot. I've wondered why more people don't use these. They used to be called Wavy Seas. They got bought out by Vertex and are now called Moceans. They are great and it would be a lot more difficult for me to get good circulation over the sps without them. I've been using them now for 6 years.

Like I'm sure you have read elsewhere, you start with a low setting, like 35%. I can't remember what my original settings where, but I got a lux meter (it was not a par meter but it got the job done) and measured the lighting at various places around the tank under the old halides. When I mounted the AIs, I matched it as best I could (I think it was like 40-45%). I then increased weekly about 5% until I reached where I am now. They are at 100% for 6 hours a day. There is an incremental buildup to that starting at 9:30 AM. At 6PM it starts to ramp down with lights out at 10PM. It was not just the intensity but also the duration that I slowly increased. I should have written it all down but I never anticipated being asked about it. Dumb of me.
Just start so that you reach 40% for about 4 hours a day. Slowly increase the intensity by 5% a week and the duration by 1/2 hour. If you see bleaching cut back. If they look good you can go faster, but observe carefully for stress.

I remember your reef tank! I'd also like to know your settings. How tall is you aquarium again? I take it you are pleased with the AI SOLs? Your reef is looks lovely, Paul!

Thanks! The tank is 28" tall. White, blue and royal blue are all at 100% from noon till 6PM. Before and after I don't have on the top of my head but it's a gradual ramp up and down. Those settings are more for my viewing pleasure with more royal blue in the eve to see the pop.
The Sol Blues have made a huge difference. Not just with the corals but with the overall look.
