100 Gallon Cube Tank Build

nice choice on the orange shoulder tang. i bought one about a month ago and just love it. it is a real peacefull fish and very active. mine has started to change colors i belive. it has deveoped the orange on the shoulder just a little bit. i am looking forward to watching him change.

Just a small update...

I had a bit of an algae problem but bought a sea hare two weeks ago and the algae's gone :) My fish are all doing ok, the orangeshoulder would go through a sheet of nori daily if I'd let him, but I'm giving him about 1/4 of a sheet and feeding quite a bit of algae-based flake instead. My little tailspot blenny is just about the cutest thing ever and is quite personable. The midas blenny hides a bit more than Melvin did but he's doing ok. He's got a touch of ich today but I think that's from tearing my tank apart yesterday (more about that in a minute). My blue and gold blenny is on my hit list. I came home from work yesterday, sat in my favorite chair to watch my tank for a bit, and noticed that he was munching on some of my sps. After tearing the tank apart and chasing that stupid fish all over the place for over an hour I caught him and threw him in with Sam, my mantis. Sam has had a damsel in with him for over a month now and hasn't touched it, so the blenny should be safe. My picasso pair will be shipped tomorrow for Friday delivery. When they get here they'll be going into a 20 long for a while because they're TINY and while my fish aren't aggressive toward other fish at feeding time they are relatively aggressive feeders, if that makes any sense. I don't want my baby picassos to be intimidated and I want them to have plenty to eat so that they can grow up and be big and strong :) I also ordered a female watanabei angel from LA that should be here Friday as well. LA has their care level as difficult but I've never heard of anyone having any problems keeping them, and I think that I feed enough to get just about any fish eating heartily.

No pics right now. I just got a new bucket of salt (Reef Crystals) and am trying to get the salinity of my WC water correct so that I can do a water change. After my WC I'll post a pic or two, but keep in mind that most of my frags are smallish and so my tank will look a little bare ;)

I'm looking forward to your new pics and new livestock. I'm glad you picked yourself off and dusted yourself off and tried again.
your tank is beautiful, I googled 36x36x18 which is my favorite dimension for any future reef tanks and the one thing that came up was your tank . I was excited, and I totally wish to tag along.

I got my baby picassos today, and to my suprise I got two freebies!!! Here's a pic of the kids in the acclimation bucket:

I also got my two-spot blenny from LA today :)

nice are all of them picassos. that is a big score where did you get them from. i have been thinking of getting a couple of onyx clowns from rods reef. he has babys right now.

What?! They sent you 2 extra ones?! That is awesome!!! I want some! :)

I love all your new additions - but I want to see more pictures of them in your tank! :)

I suppose posting about LA gets you some freebies when the mess up your order....I didnt see you bump that thread back up with a kudos attached.

These aren't from Live Aquaria, they're from a private breeder...I'm not done dealing with LA yet and unfortunately they screwed up yet another thing :(

This last time LA called to let me know that the fish had shipped but then I never ended up with a tracking number. On my way to fedex this morning (I had to pick up the picassos too) I called LA and they had no clue if the fish had been shipped or not. Apparently they were having some issues communicating with the livestock facility and didn't get all of the tracking numbers entered or something. I will say that they've been very apologetic and relatively accomodating during all of this, so kudos to them, but it would be nice if I didn't have problems in the first place :)

As Steve said, LA is a huge operation and of course with a bazillion orders to deal with you're bound to make a mistake somewhere. Regardless of the problems I'm having I will definitely be ordering from them again...you can't beat their two week guarantee and their fish are super nice. They credited my account for the watanabei that didn't get shipped, so as soon as it comes back in stock I'll be getting another fish shipment :) It's pretty bad when the Fedex employees know you by name and have your fish packages sitting all in the same spot in the office waiting for you to get there

I just got my female watanabei from LA, she's currently in the acclimation bucket bobbing with her head out of the water :( I hope that she's just trying to jump out of the bucket (despite it being covered) and doesn't have swim bladder issues. I emailed LA to see if there was anything I can do for her.

Sorry to take so long to reply, my sister's been in town all week and we've been busy running around. It appears that my female watanabei was just wanting out of the bucket and into the tank. She's in the cube now and is doing quite well, though a little shy, but that can be expected. She picked at some food tonight too, which kind of suprised me a bit. I know that they can have swimbladder problems and if they aren't properly decompressed they can die pretty quickly. From the research that I've done on them once you get a healthy specimen that was correctly caught they're pretty hardy, though I wouldn't go pushing my luck. She's quite thick (fat) and looks perfectly healthy (knock on wood).

I also saw my two-spot blenny for a few seconds tonight while he was grabbing some food...he appears to be quite healthy. I'm hoping that he'll find himself a nice little cave to hide in that's near the front of my tank. I think these blennies are absolutely adorable, it'd be nice if they didn't hide so much, but that's the nature of the beast.

I just finished taking pics of my tank, once I resize them I'll post some pics here!!!

Here are some pics. I didn't clean the glass, turn the pumps off, or use the correct lens, so they're kind of crappy. I'm also battling a little cyano right now, but I'm hoping that several 10 gallon water changes a week will cure it.

This is the best shot I could get of the watanabei:

This doesn't show the clam's colors at all

The pair of black o's will be coming out of the tank once the picasso babies are old enough to swim with the big dogs.

Here are the four little babies!!! I woke them up and had to use the flash with this pic, so it sucks.
