After making up my fish list and deciding that I would nearly die if a few of them jumped, I decided to make an acrylic jump guard. I ordered a sheet of 1/4" thick black acrylic, had Chad cut it to length, and then I used some plastic garden "fence" from Wal Mart to make the mesh. It doesn't cut down on light at all (at least I can't notice a difference) and since it's doubled up the squares are only big enough for a neon goby to jump through. I think the hardest part about this whole project was "stretching" the plastic fence to try and get it tight...it was nearly impossible. Anyway, here are the pics:
Here it is on the tank...very low profile
That's about as close to an updated FTS as you're gonna get for now...I would like my stuff to grow out, finish adding the rest of my sps, and complete my fish list before I post another fts.
It's official...Chicken (Lavendar tang) is amazing. He will eat ANY kind of algae, bryopsis, nasty stuff that's taking over Chad's frag plugs, anything! I keep him well fed and he gets a piece of nori daily, he's just quite the grazer Now if I can only keep Chad from stealing him to take care of his algae....
I ordered a VHO retro kit and bulbs from Premium Aquatics today, hopefully they'll be here by Monday. On Wednesday I have icefire echinata, 20K Lokani, and Orenji danae coming to my house, and when I head to STL tonight I'll be bringing the rest of my sps back with me.

I'm excited for you to get all your corals in now!
My VHO retrofit kit came today, unfortunately Thursday will be the first opportunity I have to install them. More than likely it will be a "honey do" for Chad for this weekend
I've got coral coming to me tomorrow by 10:30 am...I'm really excited about them! I'll be sure to post pics once I get my VHOs up and running.
Also, I have decided to wait and get a captive bred interruptus from Frank at RCT Hawaii instead of getting a wild caught one. I think I will feel better about a CB one and will have less chance of it dying, which is kind of an important aspect of keeping this fish According to Frank's site he won't be up and running again until Feb '09, but I PM'd a close friend of his to find out in more detail how long it will be. Obviously I will be waiting a while for my dream fish but hopefully it'll teach me patients and will pay off in the long run. Now all I have to do is convince myself that I can wait...
The Orenji is a LE piece (I think, or soon to become one) that originated with Unarce, which is who I got this frag from. It's BRIGHT, brighter than any other coral I think I've ever seen, including the setosa, which is supposed to be one of the brightest.
None at the moment, I'm getting ready to leave for vacation (I'm at home in farmington right now). All of my corals are doing well, but I'm having a few issues with some recently added fish unfortunately If I'm lucky I'll have my beloved interruptus angel in my tank by this time next year!
