100% reefbrite setup on my 120

the reefbrite blue leds are a mix or happy medium in the blue rnage....

as far as sps i got three frags about 3-4 days ago and they were completely white and now they have started color up already so i feel sps will grow just fine in this setup.

i am very pleased and will push LEDs for now on even as a main light source

Can you get pics of the SPS to show progress???

i have some but as far as progress no..... i can try

how long ago did you make the switch?
its been over 1 month and i am very happy with transition, havent even ramped up to the full 24v on the day lights
How about a par rating?
i have no access to a par meter but if you listen to most led gurus, throw out par( read josh write up on reef builders and he spoke with our club as well on this)

Got a link?

i dont i am not good in finding threads once i read them it took 1 year of reading and then we had a him come speak to us about leds and where they are taking us and i was sold to give reefbrite a try....

out of all the companies i have seen over tanks and in stores its amazing i chose 1 company... i have a LFS swapping all there t5 and mh to reefbrites, they are sold as well i guess,LOL.

I am trying to decide which Reefbrites to get. I have a 36 x 16 x 24 with 4 T5's now. I know one 36" blue but do not know whether to go with all white or 50/50 and how many units total.

It's a standard 75g (48x18x 21). I plan on a mixed reef dominated by SPS. I'm still in the building stage and still have a ways to go before I have to get my lights. So, I'm keeping an eye on this thread to see your success with the SPS in your tank. Any updates??? Do you know of anyone else using 100% ReefBrite's??? If I go with 4 fixtures, what color combo do you suggest??? 50/50??

and just an update my tri-color colored up completely and my green slimer is glowing like a weed. my caps are still growing and the just keep reaching for the lights

Hey Eldiablosrt8,

Do you have anything the shows how much power one of the 48" tubes consumes? Usually the instruction manual says much much power they take. Nothing I see online shows this.

If I can figure out how much power they are consuming I can guess at PAR. So far I've been guessing these are either 1watt LEDs or under-driven 3watt.

30 watts per fixture....... 18 leds i believe

please do yourself a favor and throw out par on a led unit..... go to ************ and read up most led gurus dont go by par i will try to find you a thread and the speaker from baymac said the same thing im saying as well

Cool-white LEDs have a strong green spectrum that doesn't have much benefit in a reef tank other than to murder other colors that are the compliment (purple / magenta / red) turning those colors visually brown or grey.

I agree with you about needing to get away from this obsession with CW. But not for the same reason. If you look at the spectral plot of all three whites, they're about the same (WW has less blue) until they get into the green-yellow range and then the warmer CCTs have more yellows into the reds. The WW has alot of reds. The higher CCT's you mention are, in fact, the CW. I think you meant lower CCT.

If you compare a typical MH spectral plot with the leds being used it becomes very clear that we should be using a mix of NW and WW.
