1000 Gallon 3D Hole in the wall

Great idea, I occasionally work on a mini version of a tank like this, 36"x18"x30" with 4" popping out of the wall. It looks really cool. You won't have any issues with lighting the bottom with new led lights, they have great penetration, but have more shadow than t5 or MH. I don't think this will be an issue for you, just place the front set of lights as far forward as possible. My biggest concern with the dream box design is the top. With the top glued on top of the sides when a skimmer overflows it will just roll off the edges onto the floor. I would just recess the top down so it sits on the baffles and the sides make a 1/4-1/2" lip to contain such spills. A little water on the floor can be a non issue but a lot creates a lot of damage. If you integrate a floor drain into the sump area that's great, but it could lead to a problem left un knowticed by a tank sitter. This lost water is replaced by the top off and if you don't realize the problem you can crash your salinity and kill the tank in a few days. Skimmers overflowwing is almost inevitable at some point. Mess and potential tank crash can be avoided with a simple lip on the sump.

Given what your investing into this tank I would just cover the walls And ceiling of the fish room with FRP, fiber reinforced plastic. It's sold in 4x8 sheets and is about 1/16" thick, from most lows and maybe home depot, about $30 a sheet. It's glued onto the walls and is basicaly impervious to water, used in commercial kitchens and such.

Thanks for the input, yes i am using fiber glass ceiling with special mould guard paint on the wall and ceiling . It should take care of these .

Recently, I only read upon a thread here in RC which tank crashed was resulted from a overflow from a external skimmer which lead to an continuous freshwater top up which greatly affected the tank salinity hence the SPS as well which went bleach overnight. So i think i make the right decision having the skimmer in sump , and maybe i should implement an auto shut off for my skimmer as well.

Lighting.

I always been a fan of LEDs lighting all these years of reefing , i like the idea of low energy consumption together with the shimming effects that LEDs can provide. However, there has always been an on-going debate about using old school but trusted traditional lighting like MH and T5 on a SPS tank... Hence i have decided to tried out a " Hybrid" system which consist of the latest LED fixture in the market together with old school T5 tube .


The main lighting will be powered mainly by 3 x AI Sol, 3 x AI Hydra , 2 X AI Hydra 52 together with 4 tube of T5 with Aqua Blue . This is the first time i am trying out LEDs with T5, and not sure how the result will be but i am keeping my finger cross. The lighting set may seem alittle bit overkill for a SPS tank, but maybe i will just take out 2 unit of Sol and use the rest depending on the result i get.

This is the humidifier controller which i bought from ebay, the idea was to link this to the exhaust fan to maintain the humility of the room automatically without running the exhaust fan 24/7 while keeping the humility and temperature in check.

I'm sorry but I do not trust your designs for aluminum stands. There is no cross bracing at all in your design. That means that any lateral force applied will probably result in them collapsing sideways. The only way to save these designs would be to firmly affix sheets of heavy plywood to the sides. Please reconsider your designs and add proper bracing/reinforcement.

An even stronger method would be triangular sheets at all corners, but you are getting the general idea: something to prevent any lateral movement of the frame.

Yup, looking at the close up of that aluminum looks like you could slide some bolts in there and bolt some gussets to the corners.
 
I didnt update in my tank thread in detail of the modification / adjustment that had been made by my system builder when i rise this concern over to them, but i guess it would help for other planing for such alu profile stand in future what to look out for.

The adjustment to enhance the strength of the profile was to ;

1) All corner edge of the alu profile has been reinforce with bracket to prevent against side linear forces.

2) As the initial plan was for the front alu profile to sit on the concrete wall adding as an additional vertical support for the front, but it turn out that the stand was made too high. As such additional support base using wood has been placed in between the gap in between the profile and the concrete wall.

3) The alu Profile stand has also been secure to the concrete wall using bracket as an additional measures against side linear forces.

maybe i will snap some photos later on... I was told that the profile has been widely use as a heavy duty racking that support weight heavier than my tank, and i guess it is still pretty new in this hobby.
 
The main pump and water circulating for the main tank will be using two unit of the Abyzz 200 .
