1000 Gallon Rimless Build

Thought I would share my tank build. Below are a list of the requirement I tried to adhere to during this build.

1. Big Tank that would fit aesthetically into the room.
2. As much viewing area as possible,
3. Floating Tank, no sump visable. As little pumbing visible as possible.
4. Rimless.

Big issue to overcome:

1. No fish room space

My solution was a custom built 670 gallon, 115x36, 32 inch deep, 3 side starfire peninsula with polished and beveled edges sitting reccessed in a 122" x 48" powder coated steel frame contructed out of 8" H beams. The fish room is solved by a 325 gallon cistern buried out side, with a custom built cover.

Here's the first pic

looking forward to watching this. I keep toying with moving some water outside of my fish room, but I think I'm a little to far north.

The stand was delivered at my home. The stand weighs around 700 lbs. the Tank about one ton. I had to build a special dolly to handle the two of them. I moved the tank first. Moving it off the trailer was a big task. We levered it up placed broomsticks under it and wenched it off onto the specially constructed dolly. To move the tank across the grass, we had to lay 4x8 sheets of plywood. It was to heavy to roll, so I put the truck in front of it and wenched it along.

Looks like you have a killer house. What state are you in?
I love how you ruined the lawn to get the tank in.

If I where you I would employ the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method on this tank.
Speaking of.... what are your plans for filtration and such?

Very cool looking. Can't wait to see more. You have any equipment or anything already? What are your plans for everything! We need more!

Wife was not real pleased with the lawn, but some sacrifices have to be made.

I originally wanted to rent a fork lift, but I would have had to do the same thing with the plywood. Also the forklift is heavy and may have caused more damage than the truck. The other thing that killed the Forklift idea is a FL is to tall to clear the door (double sliders), so I would have to have done all jacking and lifting to get the tank in the stand anyway.

I live in Atlanta, GA

Mechanical filtration will be accomplished by a 7inch by 32 filter sock in the sump. May go with two.

I have a large ETSS skimmer that I will use until I can justify the big bucks to change.

Look at UV right now. Considering Emperor Aquatics 300W

r u doin an in wall?? if so y made such a big tank rimless. must of cost a fortune cuz its rimless

no the tank will stand out in the open and you will be able to walk all the way around it. It will look like a 670 gallon tank sitting on a table with no support except for the four legs at the end of the stand.

Wow! Keep it coming! The first thing I thought of when I saw the pic of the yard was "my wife would kill me" Looking forward to seeing it come together. Who built the tank?
