you didn't have room for a 2000 gal system ??

:D

looks good... how are you gonna use the cistern as an equipment room ? (can you fit down in it or something?)

What are the dimensions of the tank and glass thickness? Thanks...

Tank is 115x36. 32 deep. The glass is 3/4 tempered Starfire with polished and beveled edges. Bottom is doubled 3/4inch glass with 2 sheets of 3/4 plywood below it.

I know a lot of you are concerned about a tank this large separating at the seems in a rimless configuration. To avoid the bending of the long sides of glass and the separating of the silicone, I had 3 stainless steel bars lathed and set like clamps on the top of the tank. They are elegant and strong. I coated them with Permilac to avoid corrosion

Wow, beautiful. Simply beautiful. Largest rimless tank I've ever seen. Build quality looks insane. Reminds me of my Elos, but like 3 times longer... lol

Can't wait to see the build play out. Work on the tank this weekend instead of going to the beach! :)

Thanks for the answer... Can we see a picture of stainless steel bars when you get a chance?

I believe the most pressure is at the bottom of the seam rather than the top although if it's a tight fit in the stand, I guess it would act as a brace...

One of the reasons for the doubling of the glass on the bottom of the tank was to provide more surface area for the silicone to adhere. The long side plate of glass is adhered to 1 1/2 inches of bottom glass. My worry is where the glass attaches to the end pieces, thats only 3/4 inch glass to adhere to. My understanding from a number of tank manufactures, is the long side, if not secured at the top will bow under the weight of the water. When it bows, the silicone at the ends begins to separate and thats when you have a tank disaster. In most tanks, to prevent the bowing, glass or acrylic supports are siliconed in at the top (euro brace) to prevent the bow. I had several manufactures assure me the stainless braces would accomplish the same thing.

Having said all that, I agree, would'nt hurt to have a nice tight fit between the tank and the frame at the bottom.

The plumbing. This was quite a job. I actually went out and purchased one of those dolly's you lay down on to work under your car. I plumbed this thing on my back.

The two ocean motions added a great deal to the complexity of the plumbing.

On the back side you can see the drain exiting the room to the outdoor in ground sump. The closed loop goes out, connects to the pump and returns back in doors.

Just use photobucket or someother photo host to share your pictures. The size is optimized for forums and we'll get to see this beast without clicking on thumbnails.

As a fellow brother of the rimless, I'm really looking forward to this tank come together.
