1000 Gallon Rimless Build

Surprising PAR figures there. If you can get the light spread right and maintain those types of figures, that's awesome. Looking forward to seeing how corals respond. I have some test frags for you if you want to try.

I've got to ask, what sort of cleanup crew do you have? I'm trying to decide whether I want snails crawling all over the glass of my rimless or not...know what I mean?

How is the Apex working so far?

I got the APEX hooked up and working. I'm very pleased. Apex has a rampup and rampdown capability. I have my four plasmas set to rampup from 20% to 100% over a hour and a half time period. They then stay on for 5 hours and rampdown from 100% to 20% over an hour and a half and turn off.

Apex is quite impressive in functionality once you figure it out. The biggest complaint I have is the manual. Very difficult to navigate exactly what you need to do.

I will post pics, but I have to clean up the wiring mess first. Hiding all this is going to be a chore.

Awesome build. Thats one sick tank. Gotta tag along with this one. Im curious as to where you got the lights from? I ran into an article about them a while back but didnt know who was selling them.

Thanks
Tony

Thanks Tony. You have to purchase the lights directly from StrayLight Optical.

How did i miss this thread!?!

Impressive build and innovative thinking!

Keep posting pics.. please! :)

Nice looking build. I like the idea of the sump outside. This is probably a dumb question, but those plasma lights, are they as energy effecient as leds?

The hope of one day having a setup like this is why im getting into the hobby, by far the best build ive followed yet, keep up the amazing work!

New pics soon. I have come up with a way to minimize the close loop plumbing in the tank. It does not go away but it looks way better

You can hide the revised exposed plumbing with an araganite/cement mixture ... of course you can just use the same technique that you used for your rocks ... however I provide the following only for ideas. (Great job with the rocks !!!)

Look for posts by Mr Wilson - with the Canadian build by Peter.

Is the page that starts the information that you need. Move forward from that point for the receipe.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Just stumbled over here and it is great to see a large rimless tank. When you go big....you go glass! Following along and brainstorming for my next project.

Thanks

Mike
