1000$ scoly on DD. wow

That's overpriced in my opinion..... When corals hit the $300 mark I really begin to do a cost benefit analysis on it.

Wow, 2" and I don't really think it looks that good. I've seen better and more vivid colors posted by many other members here. I think this is a first that I can totally agree that DD way over priced something. Usually things can be a little higher but getting a good quality healthy specimen is worth it.

I saw that and couldn't believe it. It's pretty enough, but $999 pretty? Not in my book...

There's a purple chalice there for $300 or so which is damn tempting though (or would be if I lived in the States).

Is scoly hard to keep?
I read an article saying that scoly is hard to keep alive for long term.

I guess someone will buy it. The people at liveaquaria have been doing it long enough to know the market demand and value. If it doesn't sell that $999, I'm sure they'll lower the price by $100 and test the market at that level.

Some people would be appalled if I spent $60 on a coral frag and some people would be say "what a great deal"! It all depends how appealing it is to the buyer.

The price of corals have chased me out of Reefing and into FOWLR. I do still have a 24 gallon Reef with Mushroom corals,Frogspawn,Hammer,Bubble..etc.Basically what some ppl consider junk these days.I cant believe how much vendors get for corals, and they seem to get it.Chop shops all over selling a 1-2 inch frag of_____fill in the blank, everything has names and limited edition attached to it.To each their own but I'll pass. When and if the economy turns around I'm thinking ppl will pay a few grand for that Gotta have coral.

Wow at 500 an inch forget that they must be smokin some good bob marly how about the 1k for a yellow hammer on cherry corals

They get bigger than 2inches, mine is at least 4 inches across at the moment.
To the untrained eye, it's brown. To the more scruitenous eye, that's A LOT of orange my friends. And orange generally always commands a higher premiun, especially when paired with red and green in it's color morphology.
But alas, not as rare as the price tag may suggest. Just saw two last week with the more uncommon red on orange bleeding apple morph like that one for under 400. Unless a fool and his money hits that page soon, they'll hopefully be more reasonable with there pricing...

I have to agree with most that this scoly is overpriced. I never say that about corals or fish and don't complain about stuff being so costly, but this sure looks more like a $500-600 scoly to me.

I have a few scolies that are a solid 3 inches across, definitely get bigger than 2 inches.

I would much much rather pay 1k for that thing than this scoly. I want to see that hammer in person, it makes the gold torch in the corner of the pick look super plain.
