100g Cube Project

whats happening with that 45 you took down ? you making another setup or is it going to be for sale ? :wavehand:

Hehe, yea, a I got it but, ummm it got broke. I will be ordering a replacement tank though since I like the stand so much!

The bottom broke on it. I didn't think it was tempered, go figure. Not that big of a deal really I can get a new one that is drilled for $130.00, plus that one had been around for awhile and had some scratches anyway. The main reason I wanted it was for the stand. Jeff did a fantastic job on building it!

UPDATES

UPDATES

Sorry, for not getting the updates on here. I just can't seem to get pics I am really happy with. Anyways, I am posting what I have :)

Tank is still running strong. I am having a bit of a microbubble problem. The problem seems to be with my GEO skimmer. If I set the level too low I get microbubbles in my return. If I set the water level too high I don't get good bubbles inside the skimmer. I'm just can't seem to get it right.

On with the show.
Front of tank.

The second one of these has been hiding out in the center of the tank. You can barely see him if you look in the full view of the front.

A few more

I am having a hard time getting a pick of my Tomini Tang who is a big skiddish when I put the camera right up to the tank. He is out a lot, but knows when something is up :) The wrasse is just too fast for me. Currently only have 3 fish in the tank.

I have a another one, but it died shortly after adding it. He is so lonely :(

Thanks.

I love the above tank fuge. I use it as a quarantine for new fish. Have tons of macro and pods in it. Every once in awhile I notice a pod that makes it's way to the main tank.

I have also started using it to feed the tank. If I put flake food in the main tank it immediately heads down the overflow and into the sump. If I put it in the fuge it is water logged by the time it reaches the main tank and gets distributed into the water column nicely.

Maybe I can help you with the skimmer if you need.

Thanks everyone. I really should have taken the time to clean the glass better and pick out some of the hair algae :)
Unfortunately, the tomini does not seem to care for it that much. He likes picking at the bare glass and rocks.

I'm looking to add another true percula and want some sort of bright blue fish. The only other fish I have is a male leopard wrasse.

I would love a Pacific Blue Tang, but I am not comfortable with it in a 100g aquarium.
I am also wary about putting any dwarf angels, but there have awsome colors.
I also don't want anything too agressive. I like seeing my fish swim around together peacefully. I don't need a bully :)

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

I would reccomend a fairy wrasse of some sort.

Here is a neat thread about them, and someone posted up a pic of a Solarensis fairy with a Tomini in the shot too....

Tomini's are Ctenochaetus tangs...they dont eat algae like hair algae. "While most tangs grasp and tear at algal filaments, the bristletooth tangs (as the genus is commonly known) rasp at deposits of microalgae and diatoms, essentially brushing it off the rock or substrate." (from Surgeon Fish of the Genus Ctenochaetus By Kirby Adams

Another good article is : Is it a Comb or a Bristle (Surgeonfish)?

You want something like a Foxface or a Zebrasoma type tang. I would not suggest the Zebrasoma tang, unless you want to get rid of the Tomini tang, as they will most likely fight.

I love my Tomini tang. Where did you get yours?

Nick

I really like the look of the magnificent foxfoce.

That is a beautiful wrasse too. My leopard wrasse and Tomini get along great. Do you think there would be any issues with another wrasse getting along?

The Tomini came from live aquaria. He started eating right away too and eats just about anything I put in the tank.

Tom, I'm making a list :)
