100g My First Tank

Nice rock, looking good!

By the way it is a good idea to figure out how many amps your using just so you know if your in a good range. Its fairly easy to do this too. Just add up all the wattage of your equipment and divide by 120V if your in the US which you are. W/ V = Amps. Then you'll know whether your gonna blow anything up or not when you upgrade or add anything else. :)

thanks for the heads up, i did the math and with the skimmer, two pumps, 2 fans and MH lighting all on at the same time. I draw about

6.2 amps

i still have yet to figure out how many watts of heaters i need and lunar lights which should be little watts and probably when summer comes closer a chiller since i live in sunny So Cal.

Only problem is i live in a apartment and the circuit i am on also runs the kitchen. But i might be able to route some power from the next closest circuit which would be the washer and dry room.

Thanks for the comment on the aquascape, tomorow i will get my digital back and take some nice shots

Sounds like you need to find what else is on the breaker. Some of the kitchen appliances might be on that circuit which could cause it to overload when turned on. That would suck to have the breaker blow when you are away from home.

So i watched the temp for 24 hours and the lowest with the MH off and around 5am it went down to about 76-77 and the highest the MH being on for 10hrs was 80

So im thinking two 150w heaters at the return end of the sump should be good?

And i have my thermometer when the water drains into the sump

I think you can finally change your Hobby Experience to SW!! That is one one tank set up you have and excellent choice on the LR!! I can't wait to see more from your tank. I love the progression photos!! Great Job welcome to the life of constant worry!!!

So my temp went from 79 before the MH came on and when they turned off up to 83.7

does this mean chiller? :(

Just wait until summer. If you want to keep the hood then yes you will need a chiller.

well so i can start pricing a chiller what size chiller will i need, i believe there is about 110 gallons of water in the tank

got some new pics, the first is the first signs of life in the tank and single blade of alge hehe

But the second i have a question on as you can see the sand in the corners are much low from the return outlet on the other side of the tank making the water round the corners returning back to the other side. Is this going to be a problem in the future. It has some what stopped moving sand but every now and then a sliver of sand is moved
