Hey CeeGee, Thanks for checking back in. You may be right about the tumble rate so I'll dial it back a bit. I always appreciate help from fellow Reefers like yourself. If you have any other suggestions, let me know.

I will be posting a picture of a cardboard 4" hood I made as a mock up. It looks decent and serves two purposes. First, to keep the fish from carpet diving and second, to protect my daughters eyes so she doesn't get blinded from the ATI T5s. My wife is pushing for the hood for my daughter as well so its just a matter of deciding the right height. Right now its a 4" hood and looks about right. I will get a picture posted with it at this height and then another at 3.5". Once decided on, I'll place the order with Reef Savvy. I'm definitely interested in feedback from you and others willing to offer it!

The Vertex reactor work really good in your sump. The glass and sump bottom look very clean, not like mine that I can't keep it clean ;-(

You did all the plumbing work yourself? That looks awesome.

Thanks Shih87, Yes, I did all the plumbing work. Here's a great trick to keeping your sump clean. Place a small pump in the sump and just let it run. I move it around about once a week to make sure I get all the dead spots and that way I don't ever have to clean the sump. This will get all that mulm suspended for your corals and it will keep your sump nice and clean!

Just checking in after making a few of the adjustments recommended by Zeovit.

The flow on my 3Liter reactor was running at 255 GPH so I dialed it back to 150 GPH. It is now taking 12 seconds to fill a 2 quart pitcher. That's 24 seconds per gallon. 3600 seconds in an hour so 3600/24=150 GPH. I think I got that right but if not, please let me know.

I had already purchased two of the 1 liter bags of ZEOvit zeolites filter media after buying a used 3 liter warner marine Zeovit reactor. I had only loaded up 1 liter of the ZEOvit zeolites filter media to date so today I added another .4 liters today to get the
total up to 1.4 liters.

I was only using 1/4 liter of activated carbon prior so today I added another 1/4 liter of activated carbon to get the total to 1/2 liter. I just keep the carbon in a filter sock.

The reactor is now on a timer 3 hours on, 3 hours off.

ZEOstart 3, more ZEOit media, ZEObac, ZEOfood 7, and Korallen-Zucht Activated Carbon 1L should arrive in the mail in a few days and then I'll get started with those.

Thanks NegroModelo, The auto water changer is so easy, convenient, and keeps my water quality so stable that I can't imagine running a tank without one now.

If you are interested in one, just check on ebay or right here on reefcentral. These are medical grade and the run forever. Best of all, they sell used for a fraction of what they cost to buy new. I unit I have cost $150 used with a single head. I picked up another head for cheap and the 4 long screws you need to extend it and that was all it took. Any doser with two heads will work almost the same way.

Just so u know I have hundreds of dollars worth of zeo products for sale some neve opened and lots only used for a couple days before I lost my sps to clorimines when the city changed from clorine. Lmk if u have any interest. All have experation dates and not exspired.

Tank Update
This is the first week I've seen PO4 at 0.01 via Hanna checker. The PO4 measured 0.03 the first time I tested today and then I retested the same solution again a few minutes later and the second reading was 0.01 so it's probably actually somewhere in that range. SPS have good PE and I'm noticing improvements in color. :thumbsup:

How does your male lyretail act towards the females?

I have a male and a female I had for years and I just added three more females on friday because the male is so aggressive. The females all bicker amongst themselves as well. I am just glad I finally got a few more females to spread out the aggression. My original female just got pounded on constantly.

Chris u probably already know this but the Hanna checker error range is .04 so any ready of say .03 could actually .00-.07. I'm happy with my Red Sea pro test kit. If I remember correctly the error range was .0125. Just a thought

The male seems to take it easy on the two females and its the two females that seem to bicker the most. The male keeps the yellow tang in check, which I wasn't expecting and I'm glad to see. (The tang used to run around intimidating everyone else and chasing his own reflection a lot). What you describe is more typical I think. In fact, I don't know if you know who Tony Vargas is but he has bred some of the more difficult anthias and he recommends a minimum of three females per male in a tank so you did the right thing for sure. Let me know if you male chills out with more gals to chase around the tank! I'm looking to get a couple of more females now.

A couple of years back I had tried 4 bartlett's anthias but they hid behind the rocks for the most part and didn't come out enough to eat so they didn't last for long. I'm having much better luck with these Lyrtails. They don't seem to be nearly as picky with what they will eat and they stay out in the open more. I feed all the fish mysis once a day and also fish flakes or pellets three times a day using an automatic fish food dispenser and that combination seems to be working well.
