Nobody is freaking out, nobody is out to get you. Just trying to understand what you're doing and help you out. If I post a couple roflcopters, will you be all warm and fuzzy again?

O sry fishes, didn't even see your post. Yea, the fish are doin' great! I can't wait to see them when they get older so I can maybe identify them better.

So if I did want to go about turning the AC filter into a fuge. How would I do that?

I made my aquaclear 110 into a fuge for my 10 gallon that is cycling right now. All I did was cut the sponge basket and silicone it to the front of the output to act as a screen to keep cheato or however you spell it, in the main compartment. I used acrylic to make two baffles just before the main compartment. The compartment these make are for my 50 watt stealth heater. I squeezed a small filter pad in front of the very first baffle to catch any big stuff that makes its way up the intake.

There are diy threads on this and I don't have any pics right now but that's all there really is to it.

Well, didn't get the sand today.....kinda mad......I went to Petsmart and it was $20 and it was WAY more than I needed. I saw a little smaller bag with black sand that was for $17 and I didn't know if that would work or not, so I didn't get it. I didn't get around to Petco, so maybe I can stop there tomorrow. Will black sand work, or what should I do?

Black sand will work, I bought 10 pounds of some black reef sand for like 6 bucks at my lfs. I wanted the aragalive but they wanted 30 dollars for 30 pounds and I didn't need that much.

Well thats good...I think I'll do that then. Now with the AC fuge thing, are there any other types of filters that can be altered?

You can make other types of filters into fuges but I think the AC filters are easiest due to their layout. I use the 110 which is the largest one they make and it gives a lot of current in my 10 gal. I wont be using a powerhead with this setup.
