This week I finished my water storage/mixing station. Here are some pics
In this picture, the top can holds my ro/di water and has a float valve in it connected to my ro/di filter. This can also has an emergency overflow so if the float valve fails, the excess will spill into the sink below and go down the drain.
The bottom can is for mixing saltwater. It will have a mag 5 pump within to mix/circulate the water.
The entire system is hard plumbed into my sump room so I can pump fresh or saltwater into my system without carrying buckets. I plan to add a switched outlet for the pump with switches in both this room and the sump room.
To further explain the design: The left valve from the top can feeds freshwater to the pump. the right valve allows me to quickly fill the salt mixing container or jugs used on my other tank.
The valve from the bottom can feeds saltwater to the pump so I can perform quick water changes. This water is pumped through the same plumbing into my sump room.
I also added this valve:
It is used to empty the pipes of any remaining water. It will also allow me to pump water into the sink or a container if needed.
You might have seen this in the DIY forum but thought I would post here as well. I'm very happy with the system so far. It makes refilling my ATO much easier and will make water changes a snap.
I also discovered this week that I once again have redbugs. I have some Interceptor left over from the last treatment so I'll be going through that again soon.
Nothing new as far as tank inhabitants. Everything is growing great, especially since I installed my CA reactor.
