120 tank/remote sump room build......If anyones inteested

There's only one thing left to do...........

Time to fill the tank

looks very nice, keep the updates coming.

Monty my friend I hear ya I can't wait to fill it, its taken a lot longer to get to this point than I thought it would. Capture ya its the basement and I still don't know why the wall is yellow. I filled the stock tanks last night and had a leak on the 100 gallon stock tank bulkhead. Its a 1 1/2" Savko schd 80 bulkhead and its big it didn't really fit in that little flat square on the bottom of the Rubbermaid tank. I had to shave a flat spot on the bottom of the bulkhead and rubber gasket, the drip was small but still a drip. I took it apart and put a bead of silicon in between the bulkhead and gasket, and in between the gasket and tank so hopefully it holds(wish me luck)

I'm gonna start making RODI/saltwater this weekend and hopefully order sand. Any suggestions on sand for the DT and fuge would be appreciated, for the DT I'm thinking Bahamas Oolite but not sure about the fuge so feel free to help out.

I had leaky stock tanks too. Be careful with Silicone on those tanks. It doesnt adhere well to plastic over time. If the drip comes back, here's my two cents from recent similar trouble........Go to west marine and get some MarineTEX. Get the bigger box because its good to have (shell out the $45, its worth it). Go home, drain your tank, apply it EVERYWHERE and let it sit for 3 hours. You'll be good to go. If you have a small drop around the threaded fittings, there's another product in the same isle, its a green marine epoxy stick (about $20) that you can apply under water and hardens overnight. Both work great and have been awesome with my stock tanks.

I hope your silicone works, but if it fails, try this.

good luck

Well its been a while and I apologize for the delay but good things have happened.

Hopefully I come home tomorrow and its cleared up a bit, the skimmer is going crazy though. I ended up using Somoa Pink sand its beautifull. I promise Ill have more pics of the whole system running and a cleared up tank, hope you enjoy talk to ya soon

Heres some pics from this afternoon. I finally hung the light and wired everything under the stand. I ran a 20 amp dedicated breaker to the tank to run the lights and 2 vortechs. The MH on the left wont fire I tried switching ballasts and it still didnt fire I hope its just a bad bulb, the bulb itself is cloudy not clear like the other 2.

Ill post some pics of the fish room up and running a little later tonight. Enjoy

Awesome. Thank you again for documenting your build, everything looks great and it should be a very solid system once its established. The sumps downstairs are insane, I'm so glad you had the guts to do all that plumbing. Going to have some evaporation though! I really love it and can't wait to see it filled with livestock!

Thanks a lot Stan appreciate it! Ya I'm already evaproating about 1/2-1 gallon a day and the lights aren't even running yet. I can't wait for livestock, the plumbing was a bit to tackle and I do it for a living, but its worth it its so quiet upstairs at the tank I'd never have a sump under the tank again. If u need a hand plumbing anything let me know I enjoy it when I'm not a t work

That's funny you say you enjoy it out of work. I hate selling cars outside of work!!!! Looks great, I am going to come over and check it out when you get it filled with livestock. I'll bring a frag or two to help get you going.

They are 10k bulbs that came with the Current-USA light fixture. They're a little yellow for my liking but they'll do for now

That looks fantastic. The background came out great, and you made a nice rock wall without a rock wall look. The stand and canopy are seriously sharp. Way to go!

Thanks a lot insaneclownfish I appreciate the kind words. Ya the aquascape came out pretty good I owe most of that to my very supportive girlfriend lol, she has a great ability to see the way things will look before doing it and I am happy with the way it turned out, lots of caves and overhangs for fish to hide in. I have 3 Lubbocks Wrasses and they find new hiding spots constantly
