Wow....!! Very much worth the wait to see that Greg..... I hope you don't mind my asking BUT..... Aside from labor, how much did this end up costing you..???? And would you consider making one for anyone else...???? Hmmm ?? ( LOL )

I would live to but that whole half of the country away thing is kind of a draw back.

Looks great, one question where did you pick up the formica? I have a buddy that has a stand that has black laminant and I need to figure out what to cover the canopy that I made with to get it to match.
You can usually find it at wholesale cabinet shops of where they sell cabinet hardware, if you use it be prepared, it is a PITA to work with without messing it up or scratching it.

very impressive... you are very very fortunate with that bioload to have such a problem free tank.
I like lots of fish, brings life to the tank

I was able to replace the T5 today that I had broke and I also took a better pic with all of the lights on.

Here's a rundown off of the top of my head.
3 fans 30 a piece $90
5 moonlights 3 normal
2 links $90
2 T5 actinics $46
Formica $16 - Deal of the century
Sheet of Pine $75
Formica Glue &
2 part Epoxy $35
3 Surge Protectors $9
2 Timers $20
Fan vents made
for boats $50
Hidden Door Hinges $27

Total About $458 but most of that is for hardware and not the actual canopy, the rest I got for free.
If you're interested I can ask the guy who helped me, he's the man, I give him the ideas and we make them work.

Definately interested ..... It will have to wait a little bit though until I can 1) Convince my wife and 2) Put the cash together.... I've also got two other tanks cycling up ( lol ) Soooo.....

But I'll let you know ASAP when I'm ready... and of course if your freind is interested in doing it...

Thanks again Greg... you done good....!

Thanks, the actual build time was only about 2 and a half days, he's going through a divorce and that's why it took longer. Just let me know.
What size are the other tanks??

Yes and no, its nice to be back, but I'm trying to get back in the swing of working hard... I should have waited to see the rest of the pictures, very very nice man!

I forgot to tell you Congrats for your pic making the cover of reefkeeping magazine. I was hoping you would come over and take some pics of the tank before you left but maybe the next time you come down we can do something.

Ones a 12g nano and the other is a 37g...... I've still got to get the light for the 37gal. ( about $200 ).. And right now, there is nothing living in them.... I did however move a couple of turbos and nas. snails into the 12gal from my 150.... By the way, I feel for the guy going through the divorce .... been there done that too..... ( several years ago.. ) Married again now with two kids ( boy and girl ) and happier than I ever thought possible... Wish I'd met my current wife the first go around....

Any specific plans for these new tanks at all??
It really sucks about the divorce but it is definitely going to be for the better for him, she's turned into an alcoholic and he's a really nice guy.

I also forgot to mention that I can take the doors off and on in about 10 seconds because of the hinges we used. It doesn't require a screwdriver, they clip on and off.

VERY nice. I'm going to have go go through this whole thread... Not sure how I missed this one!!!

very nice canopy... how far will your guy travel??

Well he wouldn't really travel because all of the equipment is in a shop, table saw, paint spayers, wood planers. If it's a standard tank he could measure it here, build it and you could just pick it up.

Very nice....Would look great in my living room! Makes all the hard work worth it! Congrats on the success!

Thanks, the way I feel is do it right or don't do it at all.

Well this is a little off subject but this is what I worked on today, I helped design this entertainment center for one of my clients a while back and it was finally installed so I went to put in the monitor and computer stuff. The left part is her computer desk so we put in a hydrolic lift, I mean who really wants to look at their moniter is they're not using it, right?

This pic is the whole unit.

This pic is the desk with the lift down, it has a marble top.

This pic is the lift up

This pic is after the monitor is in, I didn't have time to hide
the cables yet so ignore that

:eek2: My my that's incredible work:eek2:

If I scrap my idea for the cabinet design i'm planning for the tank, would you come and do something like that in my house? I have beer?

Wow incredible work!
