125 Gallon Lighting Suggestions

theres a million possibilities on what you can do when it comes to matching bulbs / reflectors / and ballasts. I would check out sanjay on manhattanreefs.com and see his work when comparing the different bulb combos to see what kind of par and color u will get, to see what will work best for your needs.

I'd have to agree with greedo very much on his points. Think of the money u can save by paying a little bit more upfront for LED... you could probably buy another tank!! lol

there was one fixture i saw today that was nasty adn if i were hellbent on going MH, it'd be the one i'd get. it had leds for actinic supplementation. I'll try to find it for u

Thanks. Of course im still in the planning stages so any information you can give me about metal halide or led lights would be appreciated. If i can get some more money to spend before i set up the lights then i may decide on led, but i dont know enough about set ups for them to really know what to buy/how many ect.

The fixture I saw was on premium aquatics, a supporting vendor on here. Its the reefbrite hybrid pendant, with their xho led strips and a metal halide as well. I have yet to find tests on these and much feedback but people seem rather happy with reefbrite products and as far as I can tell, they are a good company.
FYI, there is a rumor that kessil is coming out with a 90 watt led (not 30watts like the a150w) I figure it should be roughly equivalent to a 400wat mh with 1/5 the heat. If the curent kessil a150w is priced at about $250.00, i would think the more powerful version would only be about $350 or so. With a 125 (72 inch long) I would think you would be able to get away with 2-3 of them (180-270 watts of led lighting)

Do you already have the tank & stand? Do you have any constraints for the lighting due to a canopy? Are you looking for a fixture, retrofit, or pendant?
