Hey all I recently purchased a 125gallon tank(72x33x20). Upgrading from my 23 gallon hex, what a jump:). Anyways I want to show you guys what I plan on putting in the 125, any suggestions/changes are welcome

In order of addition

1) 2 Chromis (in my 23)
2) 1 Ocellaris Clown (in my 23)
3) 1 Foxface (in my 23)
4) Convict tang (1st new addition)
5) Heniochus Black & White Butterflyfish (2nd new addition)
6) Threadfin Butterflyfish (3rd new addition)
7) Snowflake eel (4th new addition)
8 Powder Blue (5th new addition)

All those fish will turn your tank into a nitrate factory unless you do weekly water changes or have a huge refugium with macro algea.

they're not big by tang standards, but they still grow to be about 8 inches, the powder blue tang gets a lil bigger than that. I think that that's a few too many fishes, I'd cut out one of the tangs and maybe something else that you could stand to do without. Also, if you keep one of the tangs, it might be wise to add it last cus tangs can be somewhat aggressive and territorial.

Why not leave the Chromis and the Clown in the 23 Gallon tank? If you do, I think you could safely add all the other fish on your stocking list to the 125 Gallon.

I would skip the convict and powder blue mix. Same genus. Different ends of the spectrum in regards to aggressiveness. Convict's tang is almost non-existent compared to powder blue - giving it almost no defense against an attack.

As others indicated, that's a lot of fish. What type of filtration will the system have and how often do you plan on doing water changes?

I plan on doing water changes every week like usual, also I will be using an ehiem 2232 and ehiem 2227. Is this adequate filtration. So if I lose the convict should I be ok? I also plan to have a mini fuge to grow chaeto
