130 Inches of Pleasure (500 Gallon display)

Awesome tank man! Do you have stocking ideas yet?

This is the main question that took me the longest time to figure out. A good friend of mine told me to find a tank I liked and model my tank after it. I found that tank, the problem is it's 6ft shorter and 6 inches deeper. It's the 297g tank at World Wide Corals. I've seen a TON of tanks in person recently and viewed thousand of threads and this is the tank I like the most. Please forgive the terrible Iphone picture, doesn't do the tank justice. It's a very mixed reef, lots of depth, corals from top to bottom, a few things in the sand, etc.

That's casper the white tang in the front of the tank. Yes, that tang is actually white, that's how bad of a picture this is. I'll get a better one sometime

Killer Dimensions! Tagging along for the ride.

I'm sure the Prius suspension was just fine! They have a beefed up rear end to support the hybrid battery system anyways. But it may have looked slightly like a low rider. People must have been like "Dang. That prius is straight gangster yo!!!!!"

Here's where the build currently stands. I'm putting an 11' X 7' fish room in the garage. The drywall wall you see in these pictures is the wall to the left side of the tank. I plan on running everything from the tank to the fish room through a cut out in the wall which will eventually be covered by the tank skin. I'm looking for ideas there. I'd like to do something that extends the full 14' and not just a wrap around the tank stand.

I'm planning to leave 1 HammerHead pump under the tank to run the closed loop and some of the seaswirls.

I went with wood instead of drywall for a few reasons. Easier to mount things to, easier to apply, and much cheaper. Now that I'm taking up a portion of the garage I'll need to make the rest of the space more efficient. I'm going to do hanging bikes, shelving, etc. on the outside of this room. I'm also not trying to make my garage a show piece so painted wood is fine with me. I'm dressing it up a little with trim, baseboard, chair railing, and quarter round. I left the hot water heater in the room for now so I'm not taking up additional room in the garage. It's easily movable if needed and I have no plans for anything on that wall inside the fish room, so it stays that way for now.

I figured 800lbs is only a little more weight than 3 adults sitting in the back seat.

I'm also fine with having the most gangster Prius in all of the land if that's what the onlookers were thinking.

Keep the pictures coming as you go. You can update your Avatar once it gets wet too. I love these projects. It's like congress, getting to see spending with other people's money....

Cool build!

Keep up the good work and updates!

Thanks guys. The pictures will definitely continue as I love threads with pictures. It drove me crazy reading threads that went months without updated pictures, especially full tank shots.

Your thread is one of the threads I've read many times due to the similarities in dimensions. Thanks for tagging along.

Hahah thanks :)

I need to keep that updated... just been so busy!

Sort of feel that in the next 3-4 months it'll pick up. Setting up the frag tank now and will be moving the first coral into the display in a few days.

We're becoming an official seller of Kessils, so I'll put the final two A360WEs on the display and then also setup the auto water change. Then I think everything will start moving along.

The Vodka sure took care of my hair algae, so the tank looks a lot better now as well. Hard to get excited by a tank full of snot...

What plans do you have for handling floods in the fish room?

Meaning if the sump overflows onto the floor? I have no plan. Suggestions?

I am going to run a split unit AC in the sump room to help with temperature control, humidity, and evaporation.

I'm also planning a water change system similar to one set up by a local reefer, RogerGolf66

Well, I don't know what area you live in. Is freezing in winter a problem? Is there a slope to the floor to drain out of doors?

I live in Central Florida so no real worries about freezing. The garage floor slopes toward the driveway.
