130 X 36 x 36 inbound...any suggestions?

I'll be looking into ordering some soon, the first LFS within a 3.5 hour drive is going to begin carrying it coming up in not too long. :)

That should be interesting to watch as it changes into adult form!
Will it have the blue body of a mac, or the black(er) body of a koran?

It looks to be from a male semi x female Mac...these are pretty common hybrids but they sadly don't always grow up to be very beautiful fish...guess only time will tell...

The males seem to weigh-in pretty heavily in these fish.
Body color not as vibrant- the big distinction is the color and pattern of the tail. The line patterns at the end of the caudal fin is the result of the semi blood which would most likely be absent if it was a pure chry x mac.
The more yellow in the tail could be the result of stronger maculosus blood.
However, cannot rule out the possibility of the fish being a tri-hybrid- a mac x semi x chrysurus, but pretty sure this is not the case here.
Time will tell but I don't think this will grow into an overly beautiful fish.

Hey Ted, I know you aren't normally a wrasse guy, but are you considering the trio of blue striped tamarins on DD?

Hey Bud,

Was bummed to see you parting with your stunning collection but am already looking forward to your new build.

Nope, not me, they are beautiful fish but no. I have zero room for anything.

I have several fish coming in at some point, lol, this summer, including, 2-3 baby bandits. I really need to begin moving things around here.

Great to see you in here again,

TK

It will give me a great opportunity to start a new tank and build it the way I want. This was my first attempt with a decent sized tank and I learnt a lot. In the long run it will be great for me, short term it stinks, as now I am fish-less and obviously for me, the worst part was I had to part with my pair of Bandits. Luckily they went to two homes that I can visit, so I will get to see them again. By the time I am up and running, hopefully I can get a pair of CB ones from Karen.

For the time being, expect to see me stalking this thread daily to get my fish fix.

I look forward to your future updates, and cant wait to see the new fish that are coming in.

Glad that you get visitation rights! You are going to love the new fish!

Hey Ted-
Every twenty years, since discovery in 1959, a few specimens of the absolutely gorgeous Ballina Angel, Chaetondontoplus ballinae, are collected from within the Marine Sanctuary where they are native. Divers frequently encounter them around Lord Howe Island, yet fishbase.org notes the depth range of 100-120 Meters! If divers indeed see them frequently, I would believe that depth to be more like 120 Feet, instead?!

They've only been collected in 1959, upon initial discovery, 1978 and 1994, from what I've read. As far as more recently, I have not found that Info. It is one of the very few angels of that genus, Chaetodontoplus, that I find intriguing. Besides the Conspic, C. niger!, C. duboulayi (Scribbled) and fully grown, outrageously colored Maze Angels from Taiwan (not the ones that ever make it to the States). Perhaps one or two others of the genus as well.

Attached, is a few pictures, one of which is what looks like a Ballina angel, in a very undersized aquarium.

Just for some inspiration!!!
Perhaps you can acquire one, and i can live vicariously through your pictures!!
Haha, Enjoy!!
