130 X 36 x 36 inbound...any suggestions?

thanks, I think, lol, I am pretty good about updating but it is a commitment...maybe this weekend...all are well, though I haven't seen the tiger in a few days she disappeared from her isolation box, I assume she is laying low...

1 ml formalin to 4 liters water. Put the fish in for 45 minutes and do that bath once every third day for three baths. I usually do the bath in a bucket for smaller fish and a barrel for lager fish. Aerate well while the fish is in the bath.
Use new water and formalin for each bath.

Do you also use a airstone with the dip

Amazing fish here... sorry if this has been asked (or detailed) earlier in the thread, but I'm curious about your (the successful fish keepers here) quarantining procedures. It seems you are able to exclude common protozoa (ich, etc). In my case, my DT, it is a "live-with" situation, and the fish all have resistance to ich, but having recently lost a new fish to this little parasite, while in the QT/acclimatization tank, I'm again looking at how I handle new incoming fish. Thanks, --Lars

finally read through the entire thread. very impressive tank you have there with beautiful fish. would love to check it out sometime.

Hey Lars,

Sorry to hear about the loss...
Ime/imo, the easiest way to a healthy dt is to qt all livestock, so, I focus pretty heavily on that whole process and take my time, lol, a min of 8 weeks. Observation plays a large part and meds are used too...basic meds like Cupramine and Prazipro can be helpful and there are others if those do not help.. some meds are quite potent and need to be used with caution...
It sounds like your qt might be contaminated...consider cleaning it out with a mild bleach soluton to make sure it is "clean" and start over.
Be really careful with cross-contamination between the qt and dt- water, fingers, hands, arms, nets, tools, pvc, rock etc. should not be passed between the 2 systems without a thorough cleaning...if possible, try to keep the qt quite a distance away from your dt.

Good luck with all!

TK
