[135 L] :: NPS tank :: Natan

Please let us know how this aquarium has evoled from your other aquarium?

What exacly do you mean ? These are to different aquariums, recent one is very well made, I think ewerything form "set up" was though through, didnt had any equipment problems... 90% of corals from my last aquarium survived :) and there are some new ones.

....

There is no problem with translating my 'feeding process' to english :)

there's problem with time to do that :)

What most are interested in is feeding and care processes. As each of our aquariums are different some trends are common between them.

Mike

From his post on the nano reef subforum, he feeds manually 2-5x/day with frozen and fauna marin foods.

I voted for your tank pan. Your tanks have always been inspiring to me. There are some really nice tanks this month everyone should check it out I think you will be impressed by all of them.

i guess natan will be the winner

btw its really funny you all thought that pan is his first name or something ;) pan is something like "mister" in polish ;)

slapshot no its not :)

dainiusiva is right - word "pan" in english is "mister"
I'm Natan - Pan Natan - Mr Natan ... pure Natan was busy :)

what city do you live in natan? i'm your neighbour and if its not too far, maybe you could recomend some fish stores, because we,lithuanians go to poland for cheap shopping :)

slapshot no its not :)

I get that. I just mean instead of typing out the whole name we just type out the beginning. As I said Slapshot becomes "Slap", Pan Natan becomes "Pan". Dainiusiva would become Dain. Bad habit of us Yanks, want to shorten the time it takes to do anything.

So these are my feeding process:
I’m feeding manually; so far I don’t see any need to automate it.

Frozen food

To make everything much more easy and to save some time I’m preparing mix-food cubes.

Just take some cubes of different food.

Invertebrate foods x 4
Red plankton x 5
Green plankton x 4
Micro plankton x 4
Mix sea eggs x 4
Moina x 5
Wrotka Czerwona x 4
Artemia x 2

I’m defrosing all cubes, mixing them.

Pour them back to mould and freeze again.

This is making everything very easy: 1 – 3 times a day I’m taking one cube and simply throw it into sump, circulation is making everything else.

Dry foods

Products which I’m using:

k5.jpg

FM Ultra Pac
FM Ultra Calm
FM Ultra Seafan
FM Min F
Preis Coral Energizer
PhytoPlan

Usually I’m feeding corals with dry foods 1 – 3 times a week, I’m mixing 1/4 – 1/3 teaspoon of Calm, Seafan, MinF, CE, PhytoPlan with tank water, switching off all circulation and with syringe feed every single twig of each seafan, after that I’m switching circulation in main tank back on, and after one hour I’m switching back on main circulation pump.

Once a week:

„Gear”:

Firstly I’m mixing Ultra Pac with RODI.

When it turns jelly I’m adding 1/3 - 1/2 teaspoon of Seafan, Calm and MinF

Mix everything

And we have nice coral soup.

And again feeding with syringe with main circulation pump switched off.

Night time feeding

I’m trying to feed lps every night, usually an hour before light go out.
Again to make it easy, and not to soak my hands in tank, I made extension to my syringes so my hands are above tract.

k1.jpg

For each day for all my lps I’m using 2-3 cubes of large food (e.g. mysis) and 1-2 cubes of small/medium food (e.g. prawn eggs)

Thanks for sharing your feeding regimen Pan. For my new setup I also plan to dose food directly into a compartment of my sump, where it will then be distributed evenly throughout my tanks.

How often do you do water changes, and how much water do you change each time?
