14 Gallon Rimless tank

The tank has been cycling for a couple days now and has really cleared up. I came in the office this morning and the first thing I did was check to see how much of the top off water was used over the weekend. Looks like less than a gallon so that's cool. I was worried that because the air isn't on that the tank would have tons of evaporation. Everything seems to be running well so now I have to spend my time on other things.

Like fishing...

So whats the time line for the mangroves? A year, or sooner?

A little while back in the thread I decided not to add the mangroves.

Yep you're going to pull up a lot of Stingrays and those Guitarfish if you let your line get to the bottom.

Take that rig out a few miles. Pull in the big boys.

Then go diving for the fish perspective.

Ps: You're freakin lucky.

Ya I'm lucky because its my dads boat so I get all of fun and none of the bills.
One of the gaskets from the motor to the trans is starting to leak. Its about a $5-7K bill to pull the trans and put in a $75 seal. I always ask him if he knows what BOAT stands for.

Nice - very well thought out!!

Can't wait for it to stock up!!

Thanks! Ive been following your build. VERY nice. ;)

Beautiful setup!! It makes me want to clean my desk or credenza off for the nano I was thinking of selling. Hum....

Your photos on page 2 made me miss our boat until the BOAT comment on page 3:). That's what we used to say too!

Update...

Update...

Things are coming along. I did break the cardinal sin and added a small damsel to the tank to help the cycle. He seems to like his new tank.

Also, I decided to add the mangroves. They should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. Thanks Joyce!!

I'm not to sure the mangroves will do a great job. Your most likely better off going with macroalgea. It makes a great breeding ground for your pods aswell...

Do you have experience with them? Mangroves are a great nutrient exporter. Even so, it doesn't matter because I only really want them for aesthetics.

mangroves did wonders for me....mine you had 15 of them in my 20g setup...

Thats more plant then water.

Mangroves are not great uptakers of nutrients in a closed system. Cheato is MUCH more efficient. Mangroves also deplete Magnesium very quickly in a closed system, so you'd have to dose it regardless of whether you're doing 2 part or not.
