The SWC seem to be very well made... just cant wait to actually put it to use!

I just had the idea of putting some form of life in my fuge that can reproduce relatively fast and provide my DT with larvae for fishes and corals to eat... I initially think a dozen peppermint shrimp but apparently they eat pods and mysid shrimp...

Are there any other type of shrimps / crab that reproduce (maybe on a weekly basis?) that anyone can think of

looks like its gonna be a great looking tank! any reason why your going with such a low biolead? would look pretty six if you doubled the numbers of the cardinals and added 6 of another type of goby, and or two bigger show fish (my vote would be for a pair of genicanthus angels, wantanbeis or swallowtails would look sick in here!)

depending on how the apogon do.. I will add more of them. I also want mated pairs of different wrasses

I'm thinking about adding some "big" fish but my definition of a big fish is about 8-10" when full grown lol. (any suggestion?)

(Future) Cryptic Fuge :
60cmX30cmx36cm (24"X12"X14").... This (hopefully) will compose of weird sponges / tunicate and other stuff that lives in the abyss.

In sump Refugium :
I dont know exact dimensions, but I will have different type of Algae in there (not chaeto).. pretty much a "display" refugium with different inverts that can reproduce and feed my DT with their larvae =). Along with the microfauna

Moved the tank to the house for plumbing! Thing is beast!!!!

yea all I've read is that these cardinals are horrible survivor...

I intend on buying all from my LFS, to make sure they survive the shipping and eating before I buy em. And gonna ask for a very large volume of water to take em home in so they dont stress out.... then feed em freshly hatch brine shrimp =) so.. *crosses fingers*

Tank / Stand is here today!

Really loving the look of this build. Your stocking plans are similar to mine (lots of little fish), but on about twice the scale!

One word of warning though - I've been told that the small ornamental shrimp are likely to get eaten by Apogon leptacanthus (and that they might even eat very small gobies like Trimma gobies etc). But that A.parvulus will not touch them. I can't vouch for this info directly, as I've not kept that combination, but the advice came from someone who knows what they're talking about.

Just in case it helps with ideas, my list of possible stock to choose from at the moment is:

Nemateleotris Helfrichi
Ptereleotris zebra
Synchiropus splendidus/picturatus (to be added much later, if it's clear the tank has enough microfauna to make it worth a try)
Trimma caudomaculata
Gobiodon sp
Apogon parvulus
Amphiprion percula
Stongobiops sp plus Alpheus randalli shrimp
Paracheilinus mccoskeri

I'll have to make a decision on numbers when I decide which of the above to go for...

Interesting... I never knew the leptacanthus eat small fishes / ornamental shrimps.. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm currently planning my Aquascape at work today... tomorrow I planned to spend 10-12 hours aquascaping! And continue on Saturday if needed =). I plan to have one part of the tank kind of a "bonsai" look like "Crazy4acros" tank, with the overhang and such.

(I'm open to any recommendation for the aquascape, pic would greatly be appreciated!)

Had a little misfortunate with my laptop.... I recently discovered that I had accidently put the MP40W wetside on top of my Laptop HardDrive, causing it to go haywire. Just replaced it and uploaded some pictures!!!

Tank is set up for 2 weeks now.

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5~
KH - 7.5 dK
Calcium - 450
Phosphate - there is a trace of this if my eyes see the color right... salifert are hard to see =( (GFO will be coming in a week or two so this should clear up!)

Temp - 77-78F

Light are staggered, first one on at 1 PM then second one on at 3PM. First one goes off at 7 PM, follows by the 2nd one at 9PM

On to the pictures!

My Wrasse that I put in there to help w/ the cycle
