165Gl to 1000Gl system upgrade (Long project)

this morning first testing
Amonia 10
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 10
and what I didnt like too much was
Phosphates .34

the rest looks quit normal I think as there might have been quit some die off on the fresh rocks.
Guess have to let this cycle do its thing.

another 250Lbs of life rock is on its way later today
some of it for the DT the rest will go in the first chamber of the sump to help filtration.

Todays testing

Amonia 1.0
Nitrite 0.25
Nitrates 10

everything still seem very normal so far I think
I hope this cycle to be over in maybe another 2 days due to the fresh sea water used.

day 3 testing

Ammonia 1.0
Nitrites 0.25
Nitrates 10

Not a lot has changed
its a bit strange that this is the first time I have actually ammonia in the system
The last 3 times I started a system with fresh seawater there was almost no cycle or all parameters were back to 0 within the second day.
What I did notice though is that the quality of the life rock wasn't that good as usual and I detected quit some die off on the rocks with some of the rocks now even showing a white coating on them.
Strange thing is if that would be the issue why is the ammonia not much higher then?
I am not getting in a big alarm yet as I will let the tank and try do its thing.
I have added some bacteria to the tank though to help the system out a bit maybe to tackle this die off in the tank.
Hope this will be sufficient though....
Will give it a few more days.

day 4 tests

Ammonia 0.25
Nitrite 0.25
Nitrates 20

Looks like the Ammonia is coming down though color was a bit confusing but anyway am not planning on stocking yet anyway so will still leave it alone for a while.
Will also change about 400L (105Gl) from the system and fill up the refugium and storage tank which will add another 1000L (260Gl) fresh seawater to the system. This in the hope to add anopther load of bacteria and fresh water to the system removing some of the die off and Ammonia hopefully.

You should really consider getting the Red Sea testing kits. The accuracy and range on the Red Sea is much better than the API kits.

Worth the investment to properly monitor the water.

Nice build!

The blue pvc looks crazy. Reminds me of a 70s bowling alley i love it.

I would agree with test kits.. Or is this just because it's your cycling testing (as opposed to alk, calc, mag)

The aquascape of this tank might be one of the cooler designs I have seen on here. Keep up the good work on this tank!

so specialy for you
this with a latest stones added to the system
right side

central

and the left side

and made a panoramic pictures for a full view

yes as I am still cycling I am only testing the 3 main one.
as soon as tank is ready to go I will be testing all other parameters.
Though with the fresh seawater I use I never had any problems there. I only drip baking Soda every now and then to increase the DkH
