165Gl to 1000Gl system upgrade (Long project)

Dirk,
Just read your build, very good!

I'm happy to see you are able to leave the tank unattended, for so long a period of time, with little maintanence. Slow and patients is the way to go. I'm glad you kept at it

hey dirk, the mags are looking lovely. Do you just go for a swim and pick corals yourself or do you have to buy them from the local shops?

Those tubastreas are just a plague here on our coast. But believe it or not we are forbidden to collect even a small piece.

Nice tank by the way...

those days are over a long time ago
strict rules here now for picking out anything living out of the ocean and rightly so I think

and look here my carpet that I thought I lost when rescaping the tank suddenly showed up again. haven't seen this one for almost 2 months. They seem very resilient

hope to be getting more pictures from home soon as it seem my magnificas started splitting. Should have 6 in the tank right now

after a few days back home I had the first major set back.
One of the Heteractis got stuck in one of the pumps on the top of the tank which proved fatal for most of my fish. yellow Tail Damsels, all clownsfish, Blue green chromis and my shrimp seem OK. All tangs and anthias have passed on.
The problem Anemone has been removed as it seem to be the only one that kept moving from the 4 heteractis I have inside the tank. The other 4 have been stationary for the last 2 months now in the same spot so seem happy. They have grown massive too since I left last time. My green carpet that had disapeard on my previous and returned has chosen the darkest spot in the tanl a while back I was told and has stayed there since? Thought they needed more light?

Sorry to hear of your loses. Perhaps it would help to build an extra fence around your pumps with plastic gutter guard or something similar in case one of the other anemones decides to go walkabout. For your carpet anemone, you can't really know what light levels are truly high or low until you get some PAR measurements, especially if you have all LEDs.

Thanks. I kinda figure its the darkest spot on the tank as it is was on the side and well hidden under a set of rocks so has no light on it directly at all.
