16g BB SPS cube

yes, over time I lowered the light and removed the glass. We'll see how the growth and coloration progresses over the next few weeks I can still lower the light more.

You probably already know this, but just for the sake of anyone who reads this I would to point out that if you have a double ended metal halide you need to keep the glass on because it blocks harmful UV rays. If you have a single ended bulb the glass on the bulb blocks the UV rays and you can remove the glass.

LOL! Tough crowd... If I took an FTS right now it would not look any different than the first FTS because my camera can't capture any detail. I promise in about a week and a half I will have a better FTS since my mom will be bringing her fancy camera.

Hey uhuru, looking good! It's tough to have a tank thread w/o having new pictures. :D But I do like your new skimmer though. Is that a DAS skimmer? Keep us posted on how it does for you. Doesn't look like it took long to break in at all. :eek2:

Thanks slovan. Yes, it's a DAS EX1. I was surprised at how quickly it started working. I'm still getting it dialed in, as it started to overflow last night. I've turned down the air about 1/4 way now and i think the bubbles are right where I like them.

After getting BOOed I thought I'd give it a try to get a decent FTS this morning. Like I said it's not much to look at yet but here it is:

I have been thinking about getting and EX-1 for my 30 so that I could also use it on my 90 when I re-start it. Please keep us posted it you are actually skimming anything after about 3 weeks. My experience has been that grossly oversizing a skimmer on a small water volume doesnt seem to work well after a while.

Very nice BTW

Funny you say that, I've been filling about 3/4 of the cup every 3 days (medium tea color), until today, I shut off the air for about 5 hours because my carpet was getting shampoo'ed. Since then it hasn't been able to rebuild the foam head. Before that, it was very consistent. I stare at the skimmer just as much as the tank, so I'll definitely keep you updated on how it goes. I think the fact that nothing settles in my tank and the skimmer gets the dirtiest water possible helps. Plus, I have a heavy bioload for this sized tank, and I feed heavy 2x's a day.

One bad thing happened today - my alk dropped to 6.7!! Yes, I've neglected to test for alk longer than I care to admit, and so I wasn't dosing enough of it. Test for alk regularly you nano sps keepers! The levels drop scary fast in these small tanks.

if you dont mind, can you please post a exact measurement of the foot print on the Ex-1. I want to see if it will fit inside m 10 gallon sump.

thanks
