They way the 2x6s are sitting prevents twisting from front to back or side to side like you've mentioned.

I don't understand what you mean. I'm not builder, I'm the buyer, planner, and screw-up fixer here. I do however know that there is going to be plywood on both the bottom and the top of the stand. The photos shown are not of the finished product, just a basic skeleton.
Can you clarify what you mean?

Yeah there are four center braces, two for the front, two for the back. Like I mentioned, what you've seen so far is just a skeleton and there is more work to be done still.
