I should! I'm the neighborhood oddity so having this tank is just adding to the attractiveness of looking into our place.

I'm just waiting for Halloween. In our old house adults used to use the holiday as an excuse to come and ask to see our old 230g in-wall. I wonder if it will be about the same this time around.

There is a reflective window coating like tint that is one-way viewing. That would be your best bet i would guess.

I've made a few complaints about the behavior already, and so far I'll its garnered me is a few good laughs with the complex manager. I'll take a look for this reflective coating product.

Will it still let in enough natural light? We have vertical blinds (bleh!) and they don't close enough to block anyone's prying eyes out. I love to have my blinds open, but I would rather sacrifice the natural light, then have to deal with the creepy people.

Problem with the reflective coating is it blocks (reflects) light on the brighter side. So in the day it reflect outside light and looks like a mirror or deep tint, you can see out but people can't see in. The problem is at night when lighting is reversed; then you can’t see out and people can see in.

You should get a sign............

The problem happening at both times of day, although we catch it more in the daytime, obviously.

We have to find something soon, because its getting hard to deal with. I just caught someone else doing it. They are walking across our patio with their camping equipment, and pausing to look in on their way back. I kind of want a mannequin that I can dress and put at the window, like they are peering out, like a scare-person of sorts. Maybe a giant sized movie monster would do the trick....hmmm.

That really isn't on, maybe you could send out a letter to your neighbours or is there a neighbourhood committe you can talk to?

well the reflective stuff works great durring the day. I put some up on my daughters apartment windows last fall. But. it's not worth a darn at night. As long as you have blinds or a curtain you can pull at night it becomes a non issue

you could always toss skimate out your window at just that right time and say, oh I'm sorry (trying to hold back the grin)

I'm still debating the clear frosting as an option, but haven't been too successful in finding in a width that will work for our window. I don't care if people can see the light from the tank or anything, its the fact that they can peer in a see us, or our stuff whenever they please.

Maybe I should start watering my new plans with skimmate, or keep an outdoor collection pot of the stuff. It'd be like my own mini corpse flowers!

I tested the nitrite again, and it is at 0ppm. I'm wondering if I just didn't wash out the vial enough the first time. I'll repeat my test one more time then I guess I can confirm the cycle as having finished.

If they're really interested, whats wrong with knocking on the door and just asking to see the tank?

How long has it been cycling now?

Haha! That is so what it feels like! On the lighter side of things, its really funny to watch people angle themselves at the window to get a good view of both tanks. Then they realize I'm sitting on the couch and looking right at them. The little startle they get before they rush away is pretty funny.

Nitrite actually is 0, I just suck at washing vials out.

The rock has been cycling for 2 or three weeks on its own in a garbage pail. Its been in the tank since Saturday, or Sunday, I can't remember which. I think what I saw was the tail end of the cycle that started in the pail. Either way I'm just going to let it sit for awhile longer. Maybe I'll aquascape this afternoon with the available in tank rock.

I guess sneaking around like a lunatic is more their style then a nice polite knock on the door. Lunacy seems to be prevalent in this part of the complex lately. It goes hand and hand with being unable to park cars.

Ewww. Do you need to see out your window? You could get some of this stuff. and paint it on your window. We did this at our work. It looks really cool if you take the clear, put it on the glass, then spin the paint brush in a circle. Then make all the circles touch. I will take a pic of what I mean a little later. Anyways it lets a lot of light in, but you can't see through it.

I wonder if I can find it in bulk, our window is huge, probably 5 ft x 5 ft. I have a coupe large Calgary Roller Derby Association clings, along with some team stuff carefully placed in one corner now to block people out from seeing our gaming systems.

Ah Desperate Housewives, so entertaining!

To kind of bring this back on topic, the humidity reading has dropped to around 55-56%, but it still feels really humid inside on hot days, like yesterday, and today. I'm pulling out the dehumidifier later this weekend, just to see what it can pull out. The downside is that its loud. I hope to see the numbers drop again in about a month once I take down my 28g.

I don't think there will be any progress this weekend. Its supposed to be nice out, so I'll be out on my skates, at BBQs and enjoying a large quantity of adult beverages. I'll try to get the rock work done, or at least the basework done before I head out for the weekend.

No AC here. Ideal would be 40%, but I would be happy with under 50%. Alberta is quite dry to begin with, and any excess humidity tends to congregate on the windows, and looks nasty. The temperatures indoors never really makes it hot enough to be uncomfortable.

What kind of medical are you in?

Im not in it yet but im hoping to. Im doing my sciences now. I should change my occupation for now.

I just finished my undergrad in human anatomy. I'm taking time off to save up for medicine, or another degree. How are you liking sciences?

I'm aquascaping now, need to entertain myself at home for another hour and half before I can head out for the weekend. I'll post some photos, including that strange pink stuff, afterwards.
