maroun.c: If I traveled that much I would either not have a tank or have a highly trained family member w/manual, controller with SMS/email alerts, remote access, and a joystick web cam.

This tank is a total write-off, most everything is dead or dying. Fish, clams, SPS, everything. I now need to decide what to do here. This is the third time I will have gone though a total loss, and I can't handle this.
Kevin and I are going to sit down and make some choices.

I make a point to check them every Saturday when we do water changes, so I think I'll step it up and maybe go for everytime I clean the glass (every day or so).

So you both shut down your main return pump(s) while feeding?
Aside from sump space, what else should I be looking for when planning for this potential disaster again?
