If not is the 200 dc a good trade off.

We don't have an ETA yet on the next container from Germany. It's likely 4-6 weeks out. You could order one through Aquarium Specialty who brings shipments in direct from Germany but it would be consolidated into a larger shipment of theirs. That said, if you are planning on a heavy load in a 150 gallon display, the Double Cone 200 would be fine. A low load will result in some inconsistency or you would have to run it wet.

I have 3 tangs, will be getting 2 more in the next month.
And have 13 wrasse and anthias, plan for a few more though. I like to feed 2-3times a day

The size of the fish has much to do with it also. A truly heavy load is upwards of 1/2" of fish per gallon of display volume. You could add a lot more fish to that display! :thumbsup:
Heavier feedings help as the skimmers need the dissolved organics from the food and fish waste to make good consistent foam. The bigger the skimmer, the bigger the neck. The bigger the neck, the more foam it takes to fill the neck. It's the dissolved organics/proteins that turn bubbles into foam. The Double Cone 180 is good for display up to about 150 gallons. Heck, it could handle even more as these skimmers are conservatively rated. The Double Cone 200 starts at 150 gallons but the load is the key because skimmer sizing is based on theoretical loads. You could have a 300 gallon display and if there are only a few fish in it, even a smaller skimmer would starve.

That said, it does look like Aquarium Specialty has a Double Cone 180 in stock.

I was just reading on the royal exclusive website saying that the 180 is good to 132 gallons

The skimmers are conservatively rated. If you have a truly heavy load in a 150 gallon display, I would suggest the Double Cone 200. If your load is low to medium, you could get away with the 180. If your load is on the low side, I would lean towards the 180. Keep in mind the at the low and of the range, the tank needs to be heavily stocked. At the upper end of the range, a lighter load is typically assumed but again, skimmers are based on theoretical loads and the dissolved organics generated by those loads.

I would say right now is a medium load, I am wanting to get to a high load.

Just trying to make the right decision between the 2 so I don't have to upgrade/downgrade

If you are planning on increasing your load, then get the 200. Worst case, you will run it a bit more on the wet side.

The next shipment was due to leave Germany this week. It will be about 30 days until it arrives in Ft. Myers. There are a bunch of Double Cone 180's on that shipment.
