180 gallon tank build

I have the rock from the 30g, my two fish and all my coral in the 180 now. The corals didn't even flinch... they closed up a tiny bit, but then opened back up all the way 5 minutes later.

My aquascape came out really nice IMO. As soon as the water clears up enough to take a few nice pictures, I'll post them.

wahooo, time for beer!

For real!!! I wish that you and a few others lived a bit closer so you could come over for a beverage to celebrate!!

I took a couple pictures this afternoon but there were too many glares from the windows in the room. I'll have to wait till later to take them. I don't think I could be any happier with my aquascape... yay for me!!

At last, I have a couple decent pictures that I find worthy enough to represent my tank in the way that I see it. Thanks again everyone for your advice, criticisms and interest in my thread. This is not the end though... I will continue to post pictures and updates on it's growth.

Mike.

Lookin good man! IMO the open look you have going there is amazing. especially that branch rock kind of in the left

Very nice. I love the openess and the arch with the branch rock. When the corals grow in that is going to be one sweet tank.

Again, I am so thankful to have had all of you at my side when I had questions or just needed opinions. Gary, please allow me to thank you again aswell. You are absolutely correct in reguards to purchasing LR. I could have ended up with anything, but I didn't! I have exactly what i was looking for.

Also, one thing that I forgot to add in my pictures was the refugium in action.

Question: Is the Cheato suppose to be "tumbling"? If it is, then I might need to considder adding a powerhead. I added about 5 handfulls of my live sand from the 30g. I can already see Amphipods running around. I didn't use all of the sand because it was really pretty gross. I'm embarased to admit that I had never vaccumed the sand in that tank, however it was so tightly packed with rock and coral that I couldn't get a hand in there!! I WILL be vaccuming my new tank...regularly. Here is the fuge; it's is on an opposite time schedule.

Also, I just tested my params again and this is what I got:

Ca- 350
alk- 11.4
po4- zero
no3- zero
ph- 8.5

I am adjusting the calcium to bring that up and lower the alk. Using the reef calculator, I need to add 103oz of randy's part 1 to get the Ca up to 450 in hopes that it will lower the alk to a desirable range.

If I remember correctly, a high PH can also be a dirrect result of high alk too, yes?

I will post my new results tomorrow at the earliest.

Nice work! My chaetomorpha does not tumbe and grows well. I run about 400gph return into my 20g chaeto bare bottom refgium.
