180 gallon tank build

I have used coral life for 6yrs without problems. It is high is calcium and magnesium though. There are many good salts and a number of incidents of bad mixes. It does pay to test new bucketts and some hand mix the dry mix before use. There is a thread on the reef chemistry forum which list the contents( clac, mag alkalinity etc)of the various brands which can help you decide which is best for you.

Any updates lately?

There really isn't too much to update. The parameters are finally stabalizing and the inhabitants seem happy.

Here is a quick "stitch" job that I did before lights out...

magdelan,

when i asked for an update... WOW! you outdid yourself. looks great!

how do you keep your sand clean? i have always been very unclear of this

Gary, jjjo, and tmz, thank you for the compliments.

jjjo- I'm not 100% sure how many gallons per hour of water I have being pushed through that display, but I do know that it's a lot. The returns and the Koralias keep any detritus suspended in the water colum where it is then taken down to the filter and ultimately to the skimmer.

I only hope that my sand looks the same in one year!!!

Really looking good! I'm jealous, I wish I had gotten the same tank with the smaller overflows like yours. And kudos on the aquascape. Those Zimas are really doing the trick!

Laugh it up fellas cause you obviously don't know Zima's slogan.

"Zima, aquascaping wouldn't be the same without it."

...back to my wine cooler, Gilmore girls is on.

For real though.... Go Wings!!!

Thanks Mel!!! I was a left turn away from an unannounced visit to your house tonight around 7pm. I was coming back from TRS and through my old hood --> Hellendale --> 590S --> 490E--> 441E--> Gananda Parkway --> my new hood :) I was looking for the actinics, but didn't see any.

In the last 10 days, I have added a green Millepora to my system and a Ponape Birdsnest (thanks Jeremym420). All of my parameters seem to be stable. Alk is at 9KH and Ca at 450. Zero trates and ph is steady at 8.3. Today, I added a Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma veliferum), not the Desjardini. He is about 3-4 inches long and is staking his claim in the tank with the Yellow Tang and the Hippo Tang.
