1800 Gallon Reef .... Houston, Tx

Glad you stopped by Dennis. I was in a rush and couldn't find your thread to link it in here.
How often do you lurk in the large tank forum.
Well don't be surprised if you see some your ideas in my build!

Dave make sure the programing is sophisticated enough for the Aqua Care reactor. I already went down that road with the Apex. The reactor needs to degas every 2 hrs for 15 min to maintain efficiency. I used a few virtual outlets on the apex to create a nested timer, one to control duration and the second as a cycle timer to run the CO2 controller and circulation pump for two hours on, off for 15 min, and then on again. This way as I need to increase the reactor run time I only need to increase the duration of the first timer. It can be done with setting specific on and off times, but will be a total pain every time you need to make an adjustment. Also you need to be able to program an override based on PH values.

Anyone know what cables the Proflilux uses to connecting the units together? It looks kind of like a RJ-11 connector from the pictures. If that's the case we can make you custom length cables to connect everything and make it look clean. Looks like you have to daisy chain everything like the old aquacontrollers which is annoying. If memory serves me correct you ran cat5 cable in addition to the USB from the tank to the fish room which you could use for a single jump from units.

Makes me nervous that there is no formal support presence in the US based on the lack of info on their website. I got burned by some gear I bought that was made in Spain a while back so I am leary about products that don't have a formal US presence.

What type of damsels are those and do you plan to keep them in the tank?

I bought a starcki damsel because the general consensus is that they are good natured. Mine is a little on the aggressive side. Julian sprung has some azure damsels in his tank that he said do well in a small school. I wouldn't mind replacing my starcki with some of those.

They are Yellow tail blue damsels. I keep them in almost every reef tank we install and service. In my experience with these I have learned that they are mildly aggressive but not to the point that they cause stress in the larger fish. The main benefit I have found is they are great flatworm assassins. I took over a reef tank that had red planaria flatworms everywhere. It was a 600 gallon reef with probably a million of the flatworms. I put 12 of these in there and the flatworms were completely eradicated in around 4 weeks.

This tank is just stunning. I gave your contact info to the guy I bought my set up from. He wants to go bigger. I gave him the link to this thread and he was very impressed. I hope he gives you the call when he is ready to get started.

Cool. The tails looked white to me on my computer screen. Didn't know that they ate flatworms. Very cool.

No worries!

He had a few request but told me to work my magic. I pulled his old aquarium that was being serviced by another company out of the gutter. From that point forward he trusted me to build a dream tank for him.
