1800 Gallon Reef .... Houston, Tx

Sorry for the wait guys and gals! Been adding fish and working with the cabinet builder on a few things. I have decided that we will go with 12 Ecotech Radion Pro LED lights as the main (long duration) lighting. We will be programming the halides to come on for 4 hours during the middle of the day. We have been using the Radion Pro for many of our new reef tanks. I have been pleasantly surprised by the output of these lights. We have them running at 50% on our SPS dominated aquariums with great growth and color. Most of these aquarium are at least 24-30 inches deep so I feel confident that they will be more than enough to support the coral in this aquarium. Another reason we are comfortable with these lights is the ease of use. You can set them to mimic any reef setting. Ecotech actually did a study of par levels on different reefs in the world and have created programs to create the exact same lighting conditions in your aquarium. The last perk is the fact that they will sync up with the vortech pumps.

As far as the tank goes, I will be adding coral in the next three or four weeks. I will add pictures and video as we go. I will be flying to L.A. to hand pick some goodies and will get some good pictures for you guys while I'm there.

We have been through the diatom bloom and the green algae cycle so I feel comfortable adding coral and other inverts now.

Very nice to see this update.

I can not wait to see the next set of pictures and maybe a video or two.

Any hints on what you are going to pick out in LA?

When shooting this video, were you walking on top of the tank
Starting at about 0:35 you can see the feet walking along the top of the tank.

wow, so close to home, beautiful tank, was in houston las weekend, gotta check you guys out. do you travel to laredo, tx . would love you guys to do my next build

We travel all over the country. The only difference in cost is for travel expenses. We can also hire a maintenance firm if you need it.

So for another update, I have decided to use the Aqua Controller Apex for this system. The main reason that I went with the Apex is that I am familiar with the programing and have used them for years. Nothing wrong with the Profilux, I just don't like using equipment that I am not familiar with. Especially on a clients tank.
