180g Starphire A.G.E on its way!

Hi Hahn. 1st off, thx for visiting my thread. I've read through many of your posts, and you are very knowledgable! :)

Regarding the stand, yes, I needed a wide opening (53") to fit my 48" sump with wiggle room. Tom has a standard formula when building stands. And as he told you, he has an engineer give a "stamp of approval". Because of my request, he added the extra piece of metal to support the wide span.

I agree that the stand was extremely well made, as was the tank. Tom was great to work with and very knowledgable as well.

Terry, how is that screen working out for you? are you still satisfied?

Edward, loving it! You should give it a try. The screen is extremely light because the frame is aluminum. When I feed the fish, dose B-Ionic, or wipe down the glass, I simply slide it back some to give me access.

thanks Terry. Im getting in some pictilis anthias and those are hard to come by. I want to make sure they arent jumpers for a while. I may use your idea.

Edward, check out this thread:

Same concept as mine, except they used a clear screen! Mine is black. Not sure how much extra light the clear screen will let in, but it sure won't hurt.

Your tank look awesome btw! I like your screen tank cover...very clever! I wanted to make one for my rimless tank as well but It seems like it will "kill" the rimless look...I'm still searching for some options of how I could cover my rimlesss tank...hope I could innovate soon.

wargod: thanks! Did you want the cover to be left on 24/7? If you only want it on when the lights go out, or when no one's home, then the cover is still functional

Cimulation: Thanks. The sides, front, and back are 1/2" starphire. The bottom is 1" PVC, and the Eurobrace is 3/4" acrylic

Just read through your thread, and WOW! Beautiful tank and great scaping! I love that rimless look. It would take a lot of creativity to come up with a cover that doesn't detract from the look!

tbone28,

Thank you...It is so hard to put a tank cover for a rimless tanks as it will surely compromise the look of it. Hopefully in the near future we could come up with a good solution.

May the force be with you! :D

Tbone,
Who jumped? The "firefish" or a wrasse? Just wondering. Great fascade and surround on your tank.

And what does "hobby experience: *" mean? Everybody's got asterisks nowadays. Does it mean you do have some experience, but old school sportswriters are attributing your reef success to HGH or "the clear and the cream?" LOL...

Hey Ed - no one's jumped. I made the screen to prevent this. Thanks for the compliment. The hanging facade just wasn't working out for me - it was more time consuming than I thought it would be, so the cabinet makers are currently putting my facade panels on hinges. They have the lower panels done already. Coming back next week to do the uppers.

What does the "*" mean? Well, since I grew up in San Francisco, and still live in the Bay Area- home of BALCO and Barry, you can take my "*" to mean whatever you'd like it to mean;)

Facade is finally on hinges. Should make life a lot easier.

Hey Tony, still early, but so far, so good. If you go T5's, make sure you're OK with giving up the shimmer and a more natural look. I miss those aspects, but the energy savings make it up for me.

My new toy...B-ionic no more :)
