Corals? that's what I've been doing the past couple of months! I've got a bunch of frags from local reefers. You can say I have a 180g frag tank! :D I'll never do a fish-only system. I love how the reef looks.

Thanks, Tanya :) Do we have similar setups? tank in the kitchen? I hope you have some ideas for your facade now, so your husband can stop yelling at ya! :D

And KUDOS for being a teacher! We need many more of you, and all you deserve big raises!

I've had my calcium reactor running for 2 days now, and things seem dialed in already! Thanks to Craig (CW from OC), who also has a GEO, I set my BPM and effluant rates to his recommendations, and I'm dead on.

Pre-Reactor params:

Ca/Alk/pH/Mg: 440/9/8.2/1300

Post-Reactor params:

Day 1: 432/9/8.2/1300
Day 2: 445/9/8.2/1300

I'm most surprised that my pH didn't drop. I'm dripping my effluent into my fuge. Perhaps that's driving off excess CO2.

I'm checking again tonight. Hope things are still stable.

I first noticed a ph drop at about 5-6 days of hooking up my fist reactor. I then changed my effluent into my skimmer discharge and my PH is now around 8.0 at night and 8.1 during the day.

1 week mark, post Calcium reactor setup, and my numbers are still stable

Ca 440
pH 8.2
Alk 9
Mg 1300

No updates on my display tank, but I did add some softies to my office pico

I love inwall tanks that you access from the front. Good job!

How are you dealing with the extra moisture and heat?

Thanks, Xenon! Regarding extra heat, I'll take whatever free heat I can get because I'm running a T5-only tank. I use a Velocity return pump, so the added heat is a plus. The top is completely open, and the tank is located in the kitchen/family room area, so there is plenty of room for the moisture to dissipate. The rear wall is also painted over with semi-gloss paint - that's why it's a different color

When your removable panels are in place, that will block any airflow, correct?

I was going to setup a 210g tank EXACTLY the way you did yours but I have no way to control the moisture unless I open the panels everyday.

Nice Job TBone I'm looking to set up big tank behind sofa 140 gal starfire. So I've learned a lot by tagging along. One question who made your sump? I like the design where the flow from the refugium is slower. One more, Any thing you would do differently? Pumps, skimmer, sump, lighting, plumbing, etc.

Thanks Fitz aka HunkaFish

hey you only have 2 tunze for your circulation??

It makes sense to me.

180g is not alot of water to circulate. Especially with all that open aquascaping.

Well, if you put it that way, I suppose the airflow is blocked from the front, but the top is open, and I think that should be enough. I live in CA, and it's not humid here, so that should help as well.
