Bart - I've read that thread about "3-day blackouts". How would that affect all the coral I have in my tank?

Mooo - Many people go barebottom for the easier maintenance, but I love the look of sand, so I don't think I will ever go BB

GSM - good to know that it will go away

I guess the only thing I can do now is to keep the sand stirred. I'm looking for a dragon gobie. What do you guys think about Cucs and sand-sifting stars?

I really like my cucumbers! So cool to see clean "sand poop." I heard mixed things about sand-sifting stars, but I haven't had problems with mine.

What size tank? Who's building your tank?

I am getting two quotes tomorrow,,, but one would be shipped and one I could drive and pick it up thus saving major money on shipping cost. :)

48"x24"x14" rimless shallow tank, i think it will be a Bubble tip anemone species tank with select sps and lps.

I dig shallow tanks...I assume you're gonna throw in a couple of Rod's Onyx? :)

the pair i have is going in it, i will transfer my livestock from the old tank, as well.

i will finally after 3 years of reefing have a sump...

GSM is getting ATB Large or BK500 :D Enjoy your sump

LOL!! that picture is priceless. i'd have no idea that thing was so huge by itself.

I'm seriously considering a BK supermarine now and I haven't even gotten my asm yet! you guys have really messed me up in the head!

but seriously, your tank is looking amazing!! I love the clean aquascaping and nice silhoutte of islands. looking forward to seeing it grow out even more.

but I can't wait to see how the new skimmer works out.

oh and just one question,

will you use that waste removal hose on the bottom of the collection cup? is it intended for regular removal, or do you still need to open and remove the collection cup pretty often?

holy crap. really. Thats bigger than my 60g. You probably have to account for another 50g of water with that thing full lol.

I love that BK500 pic...I cracked up when I first saw it! I'm waiting for GSM to see it. I know he'll have something funny to say about it.

Ryan - Thanks for the compliments! I also like the open aquascaping. I stacked my rocks toooo high in my last tank, and had to resist the urge to do so again. I wanted to still have open space above the coral after it grows in.

Of course, it was hard to convince my wife of that. She kept telling me to build it taller! She's not a coral person.

Regarding the collection cup, you can drain it if you'd like, but you should still clean out the cup every once in a while. Personally, I will clean the cup everytime I empty it. I may only use the drain if I'm feeling super lazy or the skimmer overflows. Go check out Kennettson1's thread on his SM250. He just posted updated Nog pics, and it's still looking nice and dark. I can't wait to get mine. I'll have to replumb my sump before I can turn it on though.

Foeselone - Is that a 300? Is it running yet?

hahaha i have seen this picture before that guy is awesome..

As for the skimmer That is one cheap overpriced waste of money, just looking at that skimmer you can tell the crappy quality of these So called Bubble "king" skimmers.

i would rather have a seaclone or a skilter.

You're givin me second thoughts

That skimmer would probably put most of us in the poor house. What's it, close to 10K? Why I bet this guy's actually got his leftover Mickey D's breakfast on that plate and he's eating it for dinner. That's no fine wine in that glass either, try the local super market's Coke knock-off. ;)
