Yes, a Lokani I picked up from a local reefer. I didn't QT because it came from an established, mature TOTM-quality reef.

Lesson learned - never assume!

omg thats suck tbone. i made sure interceptor was used before any corals were placed into display. YGPM

Yeah, Bart. It sucks. It never pays to be a lazy reefer. That's how I introduced ich into my display early on! It also doesn't pay to
'assume' that things will be OK. The tank I got the frag from is fully mature and beautiful. I 'thought' things were OK.

it could have came from somewhere else? assumption will get you in troubles. if you read on sanjay articles, for time being use turkey blaster to blow off any pest then fishes should eat most of it. probably twice daily i think

The guy I bought the frag from was nice enough to notify me after he found it in his tank. He found it on the coral I got from him. It was the last frag I added to my tank, and things were OK prior.

I'll try turkey blaster for now. thanks

Yeah, blast away buddy... Let me know when all your corals turn brown from stress.

Sanjay blast his corals because he has AEFW. The darn redbug so tiny i don't think your fish will see it. The best thing you can do while waiting on the interceptor is trying to evac as much invert out of your tank as you possibly can.

Ryan - yeah, he's a cool guy. He said he would hope that others would do the same if he were in the same situation

Concrete - yes, I've also "relied" on my luck. lasted me 8 years. not bad. Now I'm paying for it

Steve - I have cleaner shrimp, no crabs. That's all I need to remove, right? I don't need to take out any of my snails right?

Shrimp, crabs, lobster. That's pretty much all that is affected by the meds, other than your pod population.

if you had a refugium in a situation like this, would it be a good idea to treat the fuge too (could it have redbugs hiding out w/o coral?), or could you simple take the fuge off the main plumbing until a few days and some water changes pass? (assuming you had flow + heat)

Ryan, I'm going to treat my fuge just to be on the safe side. I'm not worried about losing my pod population (don't have any pod eaters in my tank). My fuge is mainly for nutrient export. I can reseed later, and they should come back strong and quick.

sounds good. poor pods tho :) maybe i'm weird but I love watching pods. i swear sometimes the larger amphipods make very dramatic poses and motions and I can almost picture them roaring like a miniature Trex the way they lift up on their back legs and throw their strange appendages into the air  yes Ive got some large pods

if you take the fuge offline and remove any SPS from the fuge, you could wait 6-8 weeks and then put it back inline.

Do people put SPS in their fuge?

if it has bright lights some put frag racks in there

i think more and more, alot of people are starting to use the fuge as more of a 'second display'. eric bornerman wrote an article on that topic (cant find link)... at a certain point you kind of defeat the purpose of the fuge in the first place.

interesting. I always thought the fuge was "slower flow", and so can't support SPS. Don't make me put a Tunze in there! :p
