LOL, I would be nuts to upgrade. I have spent well over $10k on this tank. I'm not doing it again!

Does that include one skimmer, two skimmers, or three? I started counting up how money is in my system; that is when I was debating getting out.

IME, It's better to charge and then just pay off the balalnce. That way you do not need to get a line by line break down of what lived and what did not.

Just trying to help a brotha get an awesome fish. BTW, you owe me pics as soon as its in since I can't see mine until Sat :p

Acanthurus bariene

Also known as:

Bariene tang, blackspot tang.

Here is some info about them that I got from a vendor:

They are rare but mostly because the collectors don’t know what they are. They are actually found in large shoals in the wild and are a food fish on many Indonesian islands. They are not as prone to pathogens as the Powders or the Achilles are. Although, our Powders and Achilles do very well so it might just be the way we treat them that makes them less susceptible. It is hard to say. But the customers we have sold them to in the past have had great results with them.

As for aggression, they are more of an open water species instead of being reef associated so that usually always leads to a less aggressive fish. They just have less of an instinct to defend a territory. It will be far less aggressive than a Sohal. The only real exception we have seen to this open water species theory is the Monrovia Tang or Atlantic Achilles. It is as aggressive as a Sohal.

Jim - the tang was introduced into my tank last night when the lights were out. As I'm working swing shift this week, I won't be home when the lights are on.

So far, the tang is quite shy and not coming out often. When it does, it has not been accepted into the "family" yet, as the other tangs have been chasing it around a bit. It is a very small tang, and the color (without the tank lights on) is not the same as the pic. Perhaps they color up as they mature.

Terry these are Juvi's. I figured you guys might want them small for real estate issues. I asked for the smaller ones.
The Barienes come in skinny and they dont look as good. So it was hard finding fat ones, I made sure they were eating. That was the most important, they can be fat all they want but the question is will it accept food?.
They color as they get closer to adult stage, they will get nicer.

Me too!! I really want to see the fish now.

I'm glad they are juvi's, but haven't been able to dig up any juvi pictures.

I really hope they color up over time!!!
